This was a fun book, definitely something different (at least among what I've read). I'm not one to be scared by much (desensitized by X-Files at a young age, I guess) so this wasn't particularly scary, but there were some creepy parts. As a lot of people said, there was a lot more gore and violence than frightening moments. My only major complaint would be the previously mentioned ...

Actually, the barn burner was Abner Snopes, Flem's father. In my favorite Faulkner short story, "Spotted Horses" it was said of Flem, "That fellow could make a nickel where it wasn't but four cents to begin with."
