2007 Tercero Grenache Watch Hill Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Barbara County (12/12/2009) A walk with Grenache on the dark and structured side. Peppery/spice nose that carries through the wine. Darker fruit with chocolate and licorice notes. Chewy, dense tannins and a tang of acidity balance this wine out nicely. Texture has some weight and some smoothness to it. While...

2005 Babcock Fathom - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Barbara County (11/28/2009) This wine is so 'Babcock' in nature, I could probably pick it blind. Blackberries, blueberries, and the quintessential Babcock baking spices with a big dose of tobacco on the nose. Rather substantial mouthfeel, good dose of oak, more blackberry sauce, salty meat, and even some cassis on the palate. ...

Totally delicious wine. It'll probably benefit from another year or two in cellar, but I really enjoyed the bottles I had. Just marvelous style. Great purity of fruit.
