Recently picked up a nice oil painting but the frame is gold, which I would like to darken. Is it possible to darken with gel stain without sanding. Frame has intricte design which can't be sanded, and from what I have read on here, gel stain goes on like somewhat like a paint. I was thinking a dark stain and dry-brush a little gold on. Would this work? If I can't do that, I will ...

I have been lurking recently and have come up with some new questions regarding the trizak. It sounds like the preferd tool is the Airvantage palm sander. I already own a Porter Cable random orbital electric with a 6" hook and loop backing plate. Will this machine work. It seem like it has a larger orbit than 3/32 like the airvantage. I can measure it if needed. My initial guess is 1/4 inch ...
A comment about dust control reminded me of a cabinet base I built for a Sears 6 X 48" belt sander with 10" disk. The sander came with a metal-legged stand and a little gizmo that was intended to catch some dust with a shop vac, but was still the dirtiest thing in the shop. I ended that problem by building my own cabinet base, adding a 6" collector pipe to the main DC and building ...

I'm sure this is a dumb request but........ As you can see from the attached pic, I'm making a bunch of puzzle chairs. They are 3/4" plywood and I am putting a filler(Timbermate) on the edges to fill the edge grain. This stuff works great but I'm tired of hand sanding all of the edges and looking for some "POWER" ideas. I have a spindle sander which I can use in the 3/4" rounded areas...
i've stripped off the finish off my second jackson project and the veneer has a dark brown stain instead of sanding back the stain to the natural wood tone, can the flame maple veneer be bleached?

I have a fender p bass and i was considering repainting the headstock to match the body of the bass. Has anyone done this before? If so, I would appreciate any recommendations for paint or sanding. I'm a bit hesitant to pursue this on my own so I figured I'd consult some people with experience. Thanks. Dan

Selling a 96-98 Taillight (Left) with harness. The lense is scratched and the bezel is red. I had planned on sanding it and tinting it but I just don't have time and need to get rid of extra stuff I have laying around. I'll take $20 plus shipping. Will throw this up on ebay also later.
