I'm going to tackle installing an SYE this spring. I have a 3.5" lift and running 31" tires. Any recommendations on a kit? Is it advisable to replace the TC chain while it's apart?

I Found this SYE kit that comes with a new drive line for 200 bux. Why so cheap and why does it say only for 96+?? http://www.csloffroad.com/syeslipyok...p231np242.a spx Like a junk yard hack and tap would prolly run ya 100-150 bux and this is a new drive line.

Finally got around to putting in my sye. I think it's a Rugged Ridge product. Got it all apart and found the O.D. of the new shaft is a way bigger diameter where the mode gears are to go than the old shaft! Well that was a surprize that was. So anybody got any ideas? Never saw any post saying you have to change gears or anything, so where do I go from here?

I have a NP231 complete with SYE kit from JB conversions, Skyjacker shift kit, and larger speedo gear. No drive shaft. This came out of a 97 TJ with I6 and manual trans. I have not had any problems with it. I am upgrading my t-case to a Stak so I do not need it any more, just need money. I can drop it out from under the rig anytime. $350 o.b.o. I found what I think might be a good deal on an open box item for a pro-comp SYE. it is missing a bearing and a race (not sure what that is) for $200. What do you think. Can I get the race and bearing and still make this a good deal?

tcase shifted flawlessly the whole time i had it. I found a 231 w/ a hd sye and tera 2 low so i'm running that. One drawback to the tcase, is that i welded the tom woods yoke to the t case shaft becasue i broke the tap while tapping out the shaft. So it works but if you want to replace the seal you have to drill out the weld plug to remove the yoke from the tcase shaft. I ran a stock front ...

I have searched high and low for definite answers about this but the only answers I can find are for pre 96's and 231's. Now, I just bought the 3103-27CV yoke for use on my 98 with a 242. Will this work? Is all I have to do is cut of an inch of the output shaft and bolt the yoke on? How does it seal? Will the yoke fit the seal?

A little off topic but on your rear transfercase output shaft do you have some end play? I can take mine and move it up and down less that 1/8 inch and was wondering if this is norm? If not, I am going to order a full SYE kit... but if nothing to worry about I plan on doing the 3103 yoke as detailed in this thread. I have vibes on my 99 with 2 inch lift.
