I booted my Dell laptop from the Mandriva One 2010 Live CD. It found my wireless hardrware beautifully (Broadcom), and showed me all the broadcast SSID's around. But the network config tool in MCC wouldn't let me specify a hidden SSID. Any idea on how to do this? TIA

Is anyone else having this problem in 11.2 under GNOME? I have gone through various steps, including enabling broadcast of the SSID of my access point, connecting successfully, then disabling broadcast of SSID, and then unable to reconnect. I am using NetworkManager to manage connections, and have read that there may be a bug in this version of NetworkManager for GNOME as well as the one for KDE....

I'm having an issue with my iPhone 3GS (non-jailbroken). I have access to a router that is set to not broadcast its SSID and my iPhone 3GS running 3.1.2 won't AUTOMATICALLY reconnect it it. If I change the setting on the router so that it automatically broadcasts the SSID, my iPhone 3GS will automatically reconnect to it without any user intervention. If it makes ...

Today I changed only the SSID on a Linksys Wireless Access Point (WAP54G) that is primarily used for security cameras, but also acts as a wireless device for the occassional customer that needs internet connectivity. I changed the SSID of this to differentiate it from the router whose name was very similar. Anyway, the only thing I changed was the SSID - i left everything else the same...

I'm having an issue with my 3G Touch.. If I leave my SSID being broadcasted I have no problems.. But as soon as I hide it.. I'll enter all the info in the Touch and it'll work fine for hours.. Then all of a sudden I'll go to use it again and it doesn't keep the info.. I'll have to manually reenter it all over again. Obviously very annoying.. Is there any fix for this?

I've googled this until my fingers bled and for the life of me I can't seem to find anything. What I basically need to know is how to get the SSID name of the current wireless connection if it exists. I was able to do this for Windows Mobile platform using DeviceIoControl, but for the life of me I can't seem to find a definitive answer for the win32 api. I just need to be pointed towards ...

I have a very strange problem with my Lenovo T61. Maybe somebody has an idea on how to solve it... I have a wireless router at home (D-Link DI-524UP) and configured a SSID. I can connect with my iPhone, my older Fujitsu notebook, my Nokia N81 phone and also with my friend's notebook without a problem. But on my notebook (Lenove T61) I can't see the SSID at all. I tried to connect directly to ...

Alright well I have been wondering about this for a while and I am trying to learn as much as I can about the different networking technologies and applications for them so that I can offer a greater range of services for my customers and be able to setup wireless networks for applications ranging from single buildings to multiple building hotels. I am hoping I can get a little help here. We are finally making the move away from WEP and going towards WPA and EAP authentication as well as having guest access to wireless. We purchased several Cisco 1100 Series AP's I have configured the network authentication, group policies, WPA certificates, all that works well. I have also already configured guest access across a secondary VLAN...

Hi, In my case, my Trendnet Router TEW 432BRP is giving some unusual problems. It was working for last year or so without any problem. Then it just stopped transmitting the SSID for some reason. The wired connection is working fine, but my other desktop using a Trendnet wireless adapter (TEW-424UB) is not able to detect the wireless connection. In fact, it cannot find any wireless networks ...

INTERESTED IN INSTALLING A WIRELESS NETWORK TO DISTRIBUTE Internet through multiple access points. Main project characteristics. 1.Roaming for the clients between the floors and the access points if needed (same SSID with attention to non-overlapping channels, same key as well?) 2.bandwidth limitation / management (see p2p applications) 3.Client isolation for safety....

Hello friends, The software that came with my Netgear PCI card connects to the "linksys" SSID with the highest signal and not to the one I click on. I don't understand why this software goes by SSID it should go with the MAC address, I would think, with my limited knowledge. And windows zero (I believe it's called) only lists one linksys network when there are many. Note: I know how ...

We have a hidden SSID using WPA2 Enterprise. User can connect to Wi-Fi just fine and they reconnect eventhough it is hidden. The problem is, when they change their password, there seems to be no easy way to change it on the iPhone. You can't "Forget this network" unless you are connected to it. If you don't turn off "auto connect", the phone keeps interrupting while you try to re...

Good Evening, My newly acquired wireless Blu-Ray player (LG BD390) recognizes my SSID, but every attempt to connect to the (WEP) encrypted network fails after I enter the password. The signal is robust (7 bars). Internet cable feeds into the router (AirPort base station), which connects to the G4 via ethernet. There is no AirPort card installed in the G4. That's the set up. ...

I have a new simultaneous dual band Airport Extreme and configured the 5 Ghz network with a separate SSID to be able to join the 5 GHz network from my Macbook Pro. The problem is I can see both networks (2.4 and 5 GHz) but I'm only able to join the 2.4 GHz network. Trying to join the 5 GHz network, after inserting the correct password for WPA protection, the Mac try to join for some ...

When resetting a router do you have to be hardwired to the router? I have to do a complete factory reset on the router. In order to set back its password and ssid and allow use of the wireless again do I need to be hardwired to the router itself?
