so when I use vlc and set the audio out to spdif then I get this horrible stuttering sound. it seems like 250ms chunks of audio repeat a whole bunch. THis has happened across multiple computers with both xp, vista and windows 7. Has anyone else experianced this issue and resolved it?

I recently bought an SSL Alpha Channel preamp and I wanted to connect it digitally through the spdif connection to my Profire 2626. When I was looking up spdif cables on Thomann, I came across a lot of RCA and Spdif ADAT cables but no plain Spdif ones. Im not to familiar with these connections and I was wondering if someone could help me with finding the right one. Thanks.

I will recently buy Adam S3a's professional studio monitors. I have an onboard TOSLINK SPDIF output on my motherboard which goes to my SPDIF input of my Yamaha RX-V363. The only way I see this happening is using the SPDIF Coax output of my receiver and buy a SPDIF Coax to XLR cable. The thing is, there's only one SPDIF Coax output, how will I connect my right and left speakers with one ...

Hi, I have a Quadro FX 3800 graphics card. I am attempting to hook up the Spdif connection between the card and the Spdif-out on my motherboard. The motherboard pins are identified (GRND, etc) but the Spdif pins on the card are not.. I have checked the circuit, top and sides of the board; documentation, web search - including the Nvidia and PNY websites (PNY markets the same board). I was ...

Hi All, I recently installed the newest release of Ubuntu (r9.10) on my Asus N10J netbook. Unlike some earlier releases, 'Karmic Koala' is very N10J friendly, and it was easy to get things like the graphics card up and running, but sound wasnt so straightforward. I could hook the Topaz up via USB - the system recognised it as a 'USB Audio DAC' and I was away. Plugging the mini-Toslink ...

I just built a brand new HTPC for my folks, Windows XP SP3, Gforce 9600GT, Core2 Duo CPU and Asus Xonar D2 card (SPDIF digital out). At first try in Boxee everything seemed fine, streaming video from the net, perfect, local videos, perfect. Then we tried to play an MP3 file and nothing happened! Going into "Now Playing" it is as if the file is paused, the counter does not count up. If ...

VLC newbie question: Is it possible to get DTS 5.1 sound with VLC on a PC with a multi-channel sound card, specifically an M-Audio Delta 1010 (8 analog + spdif i/o)? I'd like to play DVDs from my WinXP Pro PC and have the DTS audio stream decoded so that I can choose an analog output for each decoded channel and hook up powered spealers. If that can be done, where can I read how to set this ...

hey all, Longtime reader, first time poster here. Looking for some advice on studio expansion - I currently have an 828mk3 firewire into a Mac Pro, with balanced direct outs from a 1604vlzpro and spdif in from a Presonus Eureka. I've been looking to add some pro-quality preamps to the chain and was looking at the SSL Alpha VHD to get 4 SSL-quality channels. My only concern was that the ...

For sale is my Blue Circle USB Thingee. This is the most basic model with USB input and SPDIF one one side and the analog outputs and 1/8" on the other. I've been enjoying it as my DAC for just over a year now. I purchased new for $169 + shipping asking $100 shipped. I'll post pictures of my actual unit ASAP.

1. I has windows 2. Has spdif (preferably in optical combojack) or is capable of decoding level 5 flac and sending information via usb and word processing (open office) with only minor slowdown (i.e. wont affect playback). 3. Is capable of playing 720p (or even 1080p) mkv files 4. Is as cheap as possible (hopefully under $400) 5. Has no additional proprietary software you cant opt out of....
