Hi there i desperation about not being able to set up my website server as an smtp server to send emails from my website using ADDT I am now trying to set up gmail as my smpt server is that possible? I keep getting errors I think that I need ssl authentication? Has anyone had any luck using gmail as an smtp server? Is this possible with gmail? Any help...

I've had an ongoing issue with the SMTP settings in Microsoft Outlook. When I'm ON FIOS I have to check "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication". When I take my laptop to work or somewhere NOT on FIOS I have to uncheck that setting. Is there an alternate to outgoing.verizon.net that I can use the same bloody settings on no matter where I'm at?!??!! Thanks! Doc

alright, so theres an smtp configuration component inside the web application tool. problem is i cant figure out how to make it work. i dont know what to put inside the server name. what i want to do is set up my own smtp server (is it possible?) inside my windows XP laptop. i tried setting up the virtual smtp server from IIS but i cant relate how i can make it work with the asp.net web ...
