My sump has been running for around 4 months now. The refugium section has caulerpa which is growing ok (not spectacular). My problem is that the 'fuge seems to be continually swamped with red slime algae so the caulerpa is clogged up and the sand bed has a covering of the dark red algae. Any ideas of what's causing this and how I can stop it? Is it better to go for Chaetomorpha or ...

I've seen this product on the internet and at Pep Boys and they recommend it for sealing trailer tires. The manufacturer claims that it will seal holes up to 1/4 inch wide, and that it can be used in a preventative manner. Has anyone here used it?
