I have a chance to purchace a 1998 SL2 with a blown engine. A mechanic friend has told me that the engine is model year specific, is this true and what makes it so? I have a daughter that needs a car next spring and this could make a good one for her once that engine is replaced.

Hello, 1995 SL2 DOHC. Automatic Trans won't shift into its last gear (5th) until car is warmed up for about ten minutes, thereafter shifts fine. Just changed trans fluid and filter - fluid was clean - this did not help. Thanks

have had codes run 3 times over 2yrs by three different people, cam pos sensor circuit, egr, and quad driver b P1650C/P16510D> Gm dealer said replace pcm, gm mech, auto zone said these codes are for emission and if anything will lose some mpg. the car runs good and gets good milage. wrench light comes on every now and again. any sugestions? help please

ok i thought there was a direct short somewere and i thought it was inside the starter. So i bought a new starter put the new one it.
