Suppose that the nxn matrix A is column equivalent to the identity In and that E1, E2,....,Ek are the elementary matrices which perform the corresponding column operations (in order) to transform A to In. Show that A is non-singular and find A^-1 in terms of the E's. I am confused with the difference betwen row equivalent and column equivalent, and what is E's?

Is there a difference in keywords if one is singular and one is plural? Would you put the keyword "homebuilder" if you have already used the keyword "homebuilders"? Or "home" and "homes", etc.....you get the point Thanks

1. The problem statement, all variables and given/known data Prove that if A is an nxn positive definite symmetric matrix, then an orthogonal diagonalization A = PDP' is a singular value decomposition. (where P' = transpose(P)) 2. The attempt at a solution. I really don't know how to start this problem off. I know that the singular value ...

I was just wondering if it was possible to find the singular value decomposition of an nxn matrix such as 1 1 -1 1 I tried this but then when finding the eigenvectors of A^T*A I found there were none (non-trivial anyhow). So, is this not possible? EDIT: How embarrassing I made an error in my calculations. Sorry, it's all good now.

I always see a lot of people on Soxtalk say "Sox" when talking about a singular individual (i.e. Mark Buehrle is my favorite White Sox). Does this seem right to you guys? I feel like when talking about a person in this context you should refer to him as "Mark Buehrle is my favorite White Sox player." Or do you feel like the word Sox matches the pronounciation of sock and socks taking on ...

Dear Gaddy, One of the striking things about Arabic, after all another Semitic language, is that it will use, for example, a singular verb even when such a verb precedes its plural subject. This also applies to male persons. My question is what the practice is in Hebrew. I'm pretty sure that you'd say באו הילדים rather than בא הילדים in Modern Hebrew, but what is the case in Biblical Hebrew...

according to Manhattan sc guide, the following are correct: 1. The majority of the students read . 2. The student majority reads . 3. A majority of the students reads . The explanation given says "if one means the many individual parts of the totality, then PLURAL; if one means the totality itself, then SINGULAR". But why is 3 singluar? (ref Q15 in problem set, page 27)

Thanks for reading my post, So a word may initially APPEAR to have very low competition. But then, after more prodding around, you realize that it's PLURAL version, actually has HIGH competition. For example: nike shoe - STRENGTH OF COMPETITION = 464 nike shoes - STRENGTH OF COMPETITION = Much Much Higher Now if someone didn't realize the way Seach Engines work, they ...

The Robinson family has moved to London. (the noun is understood as a unified body, not as a collection of individuals). How about 'the Robinsons'? The Robinsons has or have moved to London?

[trimmed to RCM only] "Stormin Mormon" wrote in message ... "everyone" = singular "their" = plural. Bad grammar to mix them in a sentence. Not any more, Chris. English has changed. I don't know who changed it, but you'll find that the style manuals generally approve of that construction these days. I hate it, but I don't get to vote. d8-) (As is often the case with...

I purchased one of these yesterday, and obviously I haven't recieved it yet....but the price was right. Are the loads laid out like a typical manual, starting load, intermediate steps, max load...or is it just a collection of singular loads? Good, bad, indifferent? http://cgi.ebay.com/Complete-Reloadi...item414acd3 2a3

I have a 90 F150 with a singular 18 or 19 gallon gas tank, I can't remember exactly. The thing is, when my fuel gauge goes to E, it only take about 11 gallons to fill er bak up. I'm scared to drive around with it on the E, but I know there should be 7 more gallons of gas in the tank. Anybody else have this problem? What would cause this? Is it in the gauge itself ...
