How's this for a SHTF shotgun? It's the Mossberg 590A1 with marinecote and 18.5" barrel. I handled one at the gunstore and this is one handy, sturdy, and rust-resistant gun.

Looking for a SHTF diesel 4x4. I like the Cummins diesel over the Ford 7.3 but really like the Crew Cab space. I have read several times in the forums in various places where persons are advocating caliber X because "I carry caliber X because if the SHTF I can always find caliber X". I have a : All the shotguns I've ever have had iron sights. I'd like G.I.M.er's opinions on what type of sights I should put on this . I like the thought of a red dot /E.O. Tech type sight , but in the shtf situation ....batteries might be hard to come by so am also considering ghost rings.

Let say that you were going into combat or a SHTF scenario. You had to pick a rifle to take with you. The only thing is that you would be getting a brand new rifle right out of the box. You would not have any time to test fire, zero, or familiarise yourself with the rifle. Just grab it and go. Which rifle would you take and why?
