I have read quite a few of these Zombie and SHTF threads, and its got me to question a couple of things. First, where is the impetus for fearing this kind of situation? Is the world getting ready to go to hell? Is shit really getting ready to hit the fan? I kinda think that things are pretty stable here in the good old USA. I mean this is the country of law and order... right? I don't see ...

Besides Starbucks being out of coffee and the Twitter/Facebook servers going down? I realize that there are some biggies like Hurricane/Earthshake. But what else might happen? a) What is the event? b) How long will it be a SHTF scenairio - Prior warning / event / post event please... c) What will the prevailing situations/conditions that require prep? i.e.; Here is...

Just thought I would share what tke past 6 months worth of working and bargain hunting has produced. I was able to piece together my own little SHTF kit. Remington 870 wingmaster with heatshield, mossberg 18.5" barrel, and 2 round extension. Cobra FS.380 (CCW) HP 995TS with laser and tactical sling/ 2 mags. Did it all for under $500 for everything. I think Im done for a long time...

I know this probably belongs in the classifieds, and if ya'll wanna move it, feel free. I just felt this was more of a SHTF clothing rather than an everyday item. I have in my possession many Second Chance Bullet Proof (resistant) vests. I have sold quite a few via craigslist and some of the other forums, so I am just going to cut-n-paste my ads from there. Ad below... ...

I just saw this on a surplus rifle forum. It's some funny stuff. Quote: After some years now of reading internet bulletin boards, I think I've got the pros and cons of possible SHTF rifle choices figured out. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the following is my analysis based upon the wisdom of numerous gun board gurus (you know them, they're always the first ones to ...

Any Stephen King fans out there? Im reading his new book Under the Dome.. True it is fiction and the chances of a mystical bubble coming down and isolating our town are remote.. but it is thought provoking on the nature of human beings under such SHTF scenarios where resources become scarce. Anyone having trouble motivating themselves to prep need to read it.. Amazon...

A few thoughts on protecting your home before and after the shtf. Seeing your enemy coming is incredibly important, and so is the ability to force your enemy into a bottleneck and slow them down. I think a CCTV or Aiphone system is very important in defending your castle. Aiphone is actually one of my competitors in my main line of work, but a very good one at that. It's not ...

granted they may be the perfect HD gun but i think they make a pretty decent SHTF gun too. the only shortcoming might be lack of firepower in a sustained fight in this world of 30 round mags. i like the ability to top off the magazine as well as insert a slug for longer reach. i'd feel pretty comftorble grabbing one on December 21, 2012

I need a shtf rifle for my wife? I have an Ar-15 and would like to have the same caliber for ammo collection reasons but would it make sense to get an ak to diversify? She already has a pistol and an 870 shotgun.

How should seeds be stored for long term storage? Have you bought seeds for emergency use? Where you satisfide with your seeds? If so where did you buy them? what are the pit falls of buying seeds? Can you buy heirloom seeds chosen for your area?

Well, like many, I woke up at 0430 to hit the local HEB (grocery store with electronics too) and get a Wii for $150. Then off to other stores to see what was left. The line at HEB was very long and I froze my butt off. Ladies behind me asked what I was really wanting, I joked, "toilet paper." By 5am the let us in, but as they did, lots of people from the parking lot just kinda...

I have two of these, new in the box. They are first production run and are stamped as such on the blade. Knife with paracord wrapped handle + sheath + S&W cardboard box. Blade is 4". Perfect for hiking/camping/hunting/fishing or your SHTF bail-out bag. Makes a great stocking-stuffer too. $17 each shipped.

Any real experience? I have read the common links /posts from here and the other 2 "places". My eyes , just made me aware that I am not the 20 something that I feel I am. I want an optic for a SHTF/HD 16 carbine. I have it narrowed down to An eothech or a Trijicaon Reflex. I have used the EO and have held a RX30. I know there are +/_ w/ both. TIA, BW PS I like the Aimpionts & ...

So I accumulated about 10 AR mags of varying round counts and I have enough ammo to fill them all. Up until now, I have just had 2 "standard capacity" fully loaded for emergency purposes. I'm now trying to decide on the best SHTF scenario preparation. Do you guys load up ALL your spare mag, or stick with a handfull? I have a dedicated AR mag range/bugout bag, so I can grab and go if ...

last night. Wet and heavy and power went out about 3 am. I got up about 5 am and started doing the backup thing...not shtf just a minor inconvenience... Fired up our little honda generator and got our monitor heating stove going and heat back in the place and lights. Turned on the radio and scanner and listened to the chaos going on out there that always happens during the first major ...

Many times on this and other forums I see the reference to the SHTF scenerio and how that may apply in a self/home defense situation. Proximity to the event that triggers panic is the denominator in time and needed response to a breakdown in civility, lack of services, and the absence of food. Gasoline and ATMs are electricity dependent and the unprepared will flee if supplies grow low. Where are...

I work out of state and I can be anywhere on the continental US at any time. I spent my summer out west 2000 miles from home. Cant have a rifle with me at all. I realize if I were far away like that and a huge SHTF hit Im pretty fucked, but its my duty to get home with my family member who is with me. So far I only have the G19 and 6 mags riding with, a few knives and cloathing. My question is, ...

I live about 25 miles outside of a major city in a large suburb (40,000 people). I am really new to this stuff and was thinking about where the best place for me to get water in a SHTF event. There is a stream on my neighbors lot that always has water running, 10' wide 1-2' deep, also, i can dig down about 4-6 feet at the lowest point on my lot and hit water, so, which water ...
