For some reason I can't seem to spin down my SCSI-II HDD with any of the tools available for that purpose (AmiNET). All that happens is that it spins down for a couple of seconds, and the spins up again - as if it's getting some kind of signal continously. As I recollect, this problem occurred when I had to use a SCSI-cable from an old Macintosh - which would be the prime suspect. Then again...

A couple of years ago I was given two largish boxes of SCSI cables, mostly new, branded, HP or Sun. Used widely for connecting disk drives to servers, and by Apple kit. About 30 in all. They really should go to clear some space, so if anyone needs one (or preferably all) they are totally FOC, plus postage (remember they are heavy!) or collection or taken to WB if you speak up quickly. Or if...

Hi, I have a new Windows Vista, and I wonder if there is such thing as a conversion kit or special cable that allows me to connect the scanner to the USB port on this new machine. What do I need to connect the SCSI external hard drive as a USB port and retrieve the data?

I think I should have asked for guidance here first but... I'm trying to re-install my old SCSI card in my G4 (Dual 1 GHz - 1.5 GB Ram, 10.5.8), it worked fine a few years ago (under previous OS) but I can't seem to get it running now. The Profiler sees the card (Adaptec 2906) but says there is no driver. So I downloaded a driver from the Adaptec site (2930 - they say its the same ...

I'm thinking of using my semi-retired Gigabit Ethernet G4 as a base to run a Noritsu 2611 photo printing system. This will require the installation of a SCSI adapter of some sort, and I have no knowledge of SCSI whatsoever. Can anyone suggest what I'll need and a likely place to acquire it? The G4 has been often upgraded since I bought it new in early 2000: OS 10.5.6 (Leopard...

Hello: I'm hoping someone can help me- I have a piece of important medical equipment we're trying to keep alive a little longer. It is a clone 80486-based system contained in the instrument. The CMOS battery died and our BIOS configuration was lost. I'm getting an error message that the SCSI drive is not BIOS-configured. The hard drive, which is well-buried in the chassis (there is ...

I have a Performa 6116CD and want to transfer some files to my MacBook. How would I go about doing this? The Performa doesn't have any USB ports, nor firewire. It only has an SCSI port and two 8 pin mini-din ports. Also the floppy drive is broken (and some of the files I want to move are bigger than 1.44Mb). Any suggestions?...
