I have ordered my first Mac, a Mini 2.66Ghz and I will put a Intel X25-M SSD in the machine to speed it up further. I hope I will be pleased with it However, the question I encountered was whether the sata connection in the Mini is SATA-150 or SATA-300? Does anyone know?

My mates sony viao PCG-7Z1M fell and the HD seems knackered, I can get it to boot to linux off a DVD so I think everything else is OK, tried to format it in windows by reinstalling XP and it froze at 0% of the format. If I have a laptop with a sata 150 capability, can I use a sata 300 drive in it? I assume that it would run at sata 150 performance, but is it compatible? Would I be able to benefit from the larger cache size? Would it tend to run cooler? Any other possible benefits or drawbacks? The selection of sata 300 laptop drives is greater than the sata 150 now, and many of them offer a larger ...

Hi, I want to upgrade the 160GB HD to 250 (or larger). The present one is a Hitachi Travelstar serial ATA 150. On Dabs the ATA 150 ones area lot dearer than the ATA 300. Does it matter. I read somewhere the Samsung installation disks may not work. I want to do a clean install.

I can't find anywhere in specs where it states if the SATA HD interface is SATA 300 or 150 speed. I'm buying a new HD and I'll spend a little more on a 7200RPM if it helps, but I don't know if I need SATA 300 to get the advantage of 7200 RPM or if this system can do that anyway. When buying an external enclosure, you need to pay attention to THREE interface details: 1. What interface between enclosure and computer? - USB, eSATA, Firewire, or a combo? 2. What interface between enclosure and the HDD that mounts inside - IDE (PATA) or SATA? 3. What type of drive is going inside - 3½" typical desktop HDD, or 2½" typical laptop unit, or something else?
