Tokyo (Japan) – Sanyo claims it has the technology foundation for Blu-ray players that can read Blu-ray discs with twice the capacity at twice the speed than average Blu-ray players can today. The secret behind the technology is a 450 mW pulsed-operation blu-violet laser, which is significantly stronger than the 200 mW lasers that are commonly used in today’s Blu-ray players. Sanyo claims ...

Sanyo Electric Co. said on Monday that it has created a new blue-violet semiconductor laser that might hold the key to the future of Blu-ray. According to the information given by the company, this laser can emit a beam of 450 milliwatts, which is about double the power of Sanyo's current highest-power laser for Blu-ray Disc systems. The higher power means it can write and read data on discs ...

Sanyo said it has created a new blue laser diode with the ability to transfer data up to 12 times as fast as previous technologies. The laser, which emits a 450 milliwatt beam about double that of previous Blu-ray Disc systems, which can read and write data on discs with up to four data layers, affording Blu-ray players the ability to store 100GB on a disc, or 8 hours...

I recently purchased the Sanyo 32" LCD model DP26648 at Walmart for $498 They had 42" 1080p LCDs for $899-$999. My dad insists even 32" is too big for a monitor and wanted the 26" but it's only $100 less for much smaller size. They have computer monitors up to 30", but those are quite expensive, like triple the price of the 24" monitors. The 24" monitors have 1920x1200...
