I started out teaching in a small town as a sub. After 3 years of it, I didn't like it. I like working in areas where everybody doesn't know everybody. When I'm off work, I sometimes don't like to associate with others that I work with. With just one grocery store and two restaraunts, I just felt trapped! What are/were thoughts about teaching in rural areas? I was one and I in general liked everything, except for a few other teachers there and one IMPORTANT aspect. . I have received a job offer in downtown Cincinnati and will be relocating from the Toledo area. My wife and I would like to live in the country where I would not have a long commute. Is it possible to have less than a 40 minute commute and live in the country in Cincinnati? If so, what areas should we look at? Thanks in advance.

I grew up in a small town and moved to a a little bigger town, pop about 9 or 10 thousand. I am a small town gril and I don't think that I would like living or working in a big city.

Remember that private practice medicine is a business. Some PCPs make a tremendous amount and work very hard, while others may want to live a more balanced life and make less. Your income is dependent on how many patients you see and what procedures you perform. Being a salaried physician is entirely different because your income isn't necessarily dependent on how many patients you are seeing...
