I'm moving in a week and currently have comcast along with my two routers: a dual-band linksys and trusty wrt54g. I'm looking to get fios with the TV and DVR service but still not sure how this will work. Can I just set my current routers up as APs off of the VZ router? I assume this will still let me use the TV features. Also, will the VZ router allow for port forwarding? Thanks.

Don't worry, this isn't a general query about what router and that, it's a more specific one. I'm pretty computer literate, but there's been something about modems and routers that's been bugging me. I know that the modem converts the signal coming down the line, such as analogue into signals that the router/network/computer can understand. Now, DSL modems will ...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sue1Zvmh8JA Ethernet powerline looks like a great option for me. I see that you need two gadgets for it to work, but I wonder can't the same be done with a router? Can't I just get an additional router, likely install some custom firmware, put it in my room and have it work as an ethernet powerline adapter? Isn't it possible?

I've had a problem with my Virgin cable internet for a while where I've had to turn off and then on the wireless router, a Netgear WGR614 v9. I then worked out that I could log onto the router, go to the setup page then Connection Status, click release and then renew the IP. Then it works fine. I've now noticed the same problem at another person's house, same router but version 6 and virgin ...

I need a switch for my 100mbit connection, so I was thinking of using one of my unused D-Link DI-524 routers by disabling its DHCP server. Would the router still interfere with the IP of the packets though, instead of operating on the OSI-2 layer like a real switch?
