Well Riley had an eye issue (most likely some little twig or dirt in his eye) that caused his eye to become inflamed, red, and emit a yellow discharge. We saw the vet and have been applying a Neopolydex ointment 3x a day and 75mg Rimadyl a day to reduce the inflammation and pain. His eye is 1000x better. I think the Rimadyl may be upsetting his stomach. He's been drooling a lot while he's been ...

We have our follow-up appt at the vet on Friday for Abby's Pano. She has been off Rimadyl for about 3 days now and the limping is back, although not nearly as bad as it was I'm thinking he is going to want to take another set of x-rays and put her back on Rimadyl. Do you think another set of $200 x-rays are necessary? If he wants to put her back on Rimadyl I would like to be able...

Hello! Yesterday Jack was neutered. I followed all the routine precautions and care, and today he seems to be doing very well. Just to help in terms of his comfort, I request a pain reliever after surgery. I was given Rimadyl. I've used Rimadyl with several animals, and am aware of the possible side effects (UI issues, bleeding, kidney problems - the works), but have never had...

Hi all! I'm aware that Novox is the generic for Rimadyl. Might anyone know a cheap, affordable source? Perhaps a mail-order discount? A compounding pharmacy? A vet wholesale source? Livestock supply centers? Veterinary teaching hospitals? Ideas? Thank you so much!

The tramadol is much less ...

Rimadyl warning Another class action lawsuit is being considered against Pfizer, the makers of Rimadyl. My friend participated in the last lawsuit after Rimadyl caused her dog to bleed to death internally not long after she started taking the medicine. Yet, to this day veterinarians do not pass the warning on to patients! This drug scares me so much. Please, research this ...

Expensive. Are there any over the counter meds good for arthritus pain? I friend of mine has their 12 cocker on doggie buffered aspirin for 6 months now and they say it has improved the dogs limping. But some websites say longterm use of aspirin is not advisable. But Rimadyl is too expensive. What do you advise?

Dog medicine RIMADYL, Carprofen: Rimadyl side effects cause liver damage in dogs, particularly Labrador Retrievers. Rimadyl side effects may cause sudden liver failure in a dog that has no prior liver disease, so do not let your dog have Rimadyl if it already HAS a liver disease. According to the FDA, Rimadyl had the most side effects of the NSAIDs. This tally may be because Rimadyl is the most...

Wasn't going to but Guess I am--Going to comment here!!! I wouldn't bet on my dog's life either---Which is why mine will never get Rimadyl!!! And for the record I never told anyone what TO GIVE anything in place of it!! I left that up to a more knowledgeable person. And if anyone thinks they can rely on most vets for keeping their dog safe from some of the 'crap' they prescribe---...

There's a new pain med for dogs called PREVICOX. It is much milder on the dog's stomach, liver and kidneys. I would not use Rimadyl or aspirin on either of my dogs. They are both tough on their kidneys, liver and stomach. Of course, if it is the dogs final year, then the pain management is weighed against the liver damage. Ask your vet about PREVICOX. It is so hard when your dog is in pain....
