REVISED.... All I am looking for is people who have coilovers or know a lot about them to answer me a few questions if you don't mind. First of all, what brand and model of vehicle are they mounted on? Second, do you know the approximate weight of that vehicle? Third, what brand of coilover do you have? Fourth, do you run a single, dual or a triple rate setup? Fifth, what ...

06 C6 Z51 15K mi & many HPDEs, Bilstein Sports, stock springs, not lowered or other relative mods. Have had basically same stable ride height since new. Over the last year have noticed drop of at least 1" all around. Can OEM springs go out this soon? Shock shops say not shock issue, rebound, bouncing, clunks are their indicators. Other ideas?...

question....i'm just trying to get in on the SM pie, just bought a cheap XR650L (non-running, a project). i've been exclusively a street/sport rider w/ ZERO dirt experience. i'm used to sport bikes that i can stradle and either plant both feet or at least tip-toe. looking at the XR, even w/ the seat cushion OFF, there is no way in hell i can even get close to getting my feet down, and even if ...

Hi Any advice on a cheap way of raising the ride height on my 16v Mk2. We are entering it in the Exeter Trial (as seen on Fifth Gear) in the beginners 'O' Class. Have had a sump guard made and removed lower part of our big bumper. Will the bigger springs of other Mk2's go straight on? Anyone got some taking up garage space? The plan is to drop it down after and turn into a track car....

I've been looking about the Mk2 forum searching for folks scraping their cars and thought I'd start my own thread to get some more feedback. Last night I was driving out of my gf's street with a full car (myself & 4 lassies ) when I went slowly (5mph) over a speed cushion when CRUNCH. Fortunately it was only the one speed cushion I had to 'straddle' as there was a parked car on the other....

This may not be the correct way to measure this but it seems like an easy way make a rough verification - when parked on a flat and level surface for standard ride height what would the distance between the bottom of the gearbox/sump casing and the floor be? Should the rear radius arms be painted black?

I put in a search and didnt find anything. This may be a stupid question, and you might think why would you do that? It's completely hypothetical so here goes. Would it be a bad idea to mismatch springs? For example stock rear and tein s-techs front. setup would regardless call for AGX's so thats cleard out. And why someone would consider this is not for performance like ...

I will be running a multi leaf Model a front spring, small block chevy with 5 speed trans, and lever shock & coil spring rear. I am building the rolling chassis now and have a question. Once the body (all steel model A style roadster) and engine/trans combo are in place, how much lower will the frame sit? I know since I don't have weight specifics nobody can tell me for certain, just trying...

Ive searchd the forum and cant find much on this. ive ownd a triumph before and am used to the 'quirks' but it seems odd that everytime i tightn my chain i also change my rear height. I completly understand why this happens with the single sided arm and eccentric adjustment, but wow. i adjusted my chain and the bike went up over a inch. Preload adjustments to change ride height defeats the ...

Is the 2.0T S Line lower to the ground than the 3.2 S Line? I've had my 3.2 for a few weeks now and it seems a little higher than my 2.0T was. Maybe it's just me but it's driving me nuts. The 3.2 also seems to handle a bit different. I'm betting this is from the extra weight up front on the bigger engine.

so after putting on a set of used tein flex i had noticed the L rear is higher than the R rear, the shock bodies and perches were confirmed to be at equal setting prior to install. to fix the problem today i had to: - adjust the shock body on the L as short as it goes and turned the spring perch down to 3 inches below the top of the shock. - on the R the shockbody is ...

Spec Miata owners have determined that the suspension works best at a ride height of between 4"-5". They have spec tires so tire heights are the same which makes their comparisons easier, but has it been determined the optimum ride height for the S? My car is sitting just about a half an inch higher on the drivers side rear than on the passenger side. Can anyone tell me how to raise the passenger side ride height using the torsion bar adjustment bolts located behind the rear tire? there are 2 lots there, I need instructions.

set the axle under the vehicle then build your links. Get the axle up as high in the frame as you can. Trivial stuff like exhaust and crossmembers can be re-designed. Once you have your full compression position figured out, find out where you want your ride height and how far down the axle can travel before your driveshaft binds. Then determine what length shocks you need and set the whole...

unfortunately they raise them by fitting a massive tubular underchassis which supports the suspension, and i think the engine and gearbox is lower on its mounts too, so not such a massive increase in ground clearance. there are quite a few over here, they look quite cool though. could you try a set of spring spacers? one of the cheap lift kits off ebay might fit your springs.

although to get the most out off the grip on rough slippery surfaces, you would want to keep the springs fairly soft, am i right? maybe 1.3l mk2 springs with some improvised spring spacers?
