We made an Apple & Rhubarb Crumble last night...very, very tasty...and healthy apparently! And in keeping with the finest gastronomic tradtions of this forum, I decided to share. So here's my recipe...remembered from years gone by and in no small way influenced by my grandma's teachings ;) Ingredients: Fruity Goodness - 3 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced - 3 Pink Lady...

About 3 weeks ago, I did a cassia treatment. I really liked the color change, but it has started to fade, and I would like it to be a bit more intensive and warm - I just don't want any 100% permanent color change. I've considered doing a cassia and rhubarb-treatment to intensify the color. How permanent is rhubarb root? Will it fade? And for how long should I let the mix sit before adding it to...

At the weekend I thinned out half my rhubarb patch, splitting the crowns and replanting some parts, passing the others on to friends for their son. I suspect he won't get chance to do anything with them before the weekend at the earliest. It didn't occur to me to wonder how long the crowns will last before being planted, and how they should be stored, especially as we have snow and frost ...

Rhubarb: error on IC diet list? Hello - I was just reviewing the IC diet list I have printed out, and noticed that rhubarb is listed in the "Bladder Friendly" list under vegetables, but under the "Try It" column for fruits. Can we get a call from the judges (or rather, the dieticians)? ...

This one comes from my great aunt Ada who lived in Indiana, PA. She had a rhubarb patch growing out back. I remember her kitchen door was one of those double-dutch doors And she never relinquished her big old cast iron stove. Note there is no mention of "crumbs" until you get to the part where you bake this... so I have no idea what she meant or how much to use. Rhubarb Crunch...

I had no idea what to expect, so approached it with an open mind. Still dark and youthful in appearance. Really wonderful nose of cherries, rhubarb/strawberry, red plums, and blueberries playing against red floral, smoky, mushroom, and wet leaf overtones. On the plusher end of medium-bodied, extra silky and smooth, superfine integrated tannins, great balance with decent acidity, red and blue ...

Re: Is rhubarb root permanent? Thank you for the answers I think I will try to do a strand test with rhubarb root and cassia sometime soon. I don't want the bleaching effect, just the dye molecule. I'm glad that the root doesn't bleach - my hair hates bleach! (Unfortunately) my hair is urine-colored by nature (mixed with some natural ...
