After going back and forth a bit to ensure we struck the right balance, we have decided to implement changes to the reputation system, specifically in the restrictions used in gaining rep power. The new changes mean to gain one rep power you must: Gain 4,000 posts (reduced from 5,000) Gain 400 rep power (reduced from 600) Every 365 days of registration (remains the same). We have also ...

Hello everyone! As you have discovered, our new forums now feature a User Reputation system! This will allow you to help newbies find out who is trustworthy in these forums and who is just, well, talking crap. Basically, this is a new system which allows all of us to reward those who make good posts and punish those who post nonsense. If you like what someone posted, or ...

Another forum im on a while back (a vbb forum like this one) activated a reputation system. If you agreed with someones good post/advice. Then you click to give them a reputation point. Unfortunately the site that added it made it so you could get positive and negative points and didnt put a restriction on it. So people abused it and ganged up and one guy ended up with -13000 rep points lol! ...

What exactly is "gray" colored reputation? Is it simply someone who forgot to click on either Approve or Disapprove and just left a comment? If that's the case, I'd suggest making it mandatory to choose one or the other, and not just leave a comment. For y'all to understand what I mean, here's a picture of my reputation, out of 8 reps only 1 is green?

As many of you know the reputation system has become controversial of late. As such the moderation team has decided to create more strict quality control on it. Reputation should be awarded for good or bad form and NOT simply disagreement or agreement with a post. That is not to say you cannot neg rep posts you disagree with or pos rep posts because you agree with them. It means you should not ...

This is pretty complicated, but it might be a good idea for this forum. Check most vBulletin powered forums to see it work, but the general idea is at the top of every post you can click "rep", and put it as negative or positive with a comment (anonymously). For every 100 points, you get an additional bar on your "rep status". Here is the post by the admin on my other forum explaining the ...
