My friend is planning on visiting from Maui from 12/27-12/30 and she was unable to rent a car for that period. She asked if a car would be available if she changed her dates a bit and all of the companies said no. It worked out for her because a mutual friend is lending her a car, so hopefully everyone has their rentals in place! The island has a much lower inventory of cars and when ...

We will be staying eight nights in a Master Suite at the Grand Velas at the end of the month. I have a couple of questions. It is my understanding that they have a rental car desk on property. We will only need a car for a couple of days, not for the entire stay and far prefer to use cancun transfers after a long flight. Do they have a rental car desk on property? ...

I may be going on vacation in about a month and would probably want to rent a car where I am going (warm!!). Anything specific to look out for? It is a major city in the US, so all the rental companies have offices there. For my daily driver, I get in on the passenger side, slide over and put my folding chair in behind the passenger seat (two door car). Thanks

Thanks Mike and Bigtop, The vans are going to cost to much, even renting a regular minivan is about twice what a car is. If I do end up going, I will report back on how things went. J

Hitchhiking is ok for some, but I would never recommend it for 99% of visitors. There is a bus system on the island, but it only goes to certain areas.

Budget has a truck for $433 total those days, they call it a premium truck. No clue if that works for you or not. Through Kayak. If I were you I would reserve something at some rate, and change it if you need to, but don't be locked out.

id recommend Avis, always had swift efficient service, join online and become a prefered member for rates and deals, and once they have sighted your licence and details, next time you can go straight from the flight to the car in the parking lot.

Glad to hear that New Zealand Rental cars are okay as I have just booked a Rav4 through them, yes it will be ten years old or more but it is almost half the cost of a new one from Apex.

Hi! I would advise to bring along some deep woods Off as the skeeters were bad when we were there 3 weeks ago. Some nites we couldn't sit on the balcony unless we were well sprayed! They do get US TV... I think ABC, NBC and CBS! They do not have jey skis for rent but there is another resort (a short walk) named the Princess Resort that was VERY crowded ...
