The QLD renko weekly filled a new box last week..and more importantly..closed the week with that box filled. Another positive box on the weekly has filled today. It remains to be seen whether that filled box holds through the week close. For a pure guesser or gambler..that would seem to be the way to bet, though. It amazes me that people are shorting when new boxes are getting filled......but ...

Japanese contribution towards technical analysis are many...the famous is Candle chart and now ichimoku cloud is also getting popular..... The other two less know charting system are Kagi charts and Renko charts.Both are getting very popular .

On the Renko chart, I look for the clear block to stay above the ema 7. This indicates to me that the price is in an uptrend. You may find that the price falls with red blocks, but if they stay above the ema 7 then it indicates to me that a down trend has not begun. Please any other questions just ask. Mud.

Knickel, I totally agree with you.. Beside RENKO, there are other indicators on daily charts that turned bullish. I reentered long after getting out of SPY calls too early today, but it was a valid resistance, where the index got stuck for a while. It seems several independent methods are issuing cautionary, if not reversal, signals. The weekly renko filled a new positive, intraweek box..and then "lost" that box by the end of the week...that is a "go-to-cash" signal in the way I use it..a reversal signal would be the filling of a red box that holds through the trading week. I'm not sure any indicator since Charles Dow began plotting price in discrete boxes has ever replaced the value of price itself, as the best indicator of all. P&F works (best on a weekly), and the renko charts (best on a weekly) simplify Dow's concept, but use a better method. It may be fun to guess and forecast what is going to happen...but try writing your predictions down...then review the ...

knickel, I agree with you. The more I use RENKO the more I appreciate PNF. On Stockcharts I like being able to use percentage size box so when you have long term chart the size of box stays more realistic. Ya I 2nd the thanks to all that have contributed, this is great us newbies. I'm slowly learning Renko charts and it's nice to get my learning done without all the time frame noise. thnak again.

Hello to all of you, Please find my way to trade the EUR/USD on the Ninjatrader platform using the traditional Ichimoku rules, but with the help of Renko bars set @ 3 ticks. I also changed the last setting from 52 to 65 as mentioned by unhommefou in this thread. Please feel free to leave your comments after studing the attached chart. Made litle more than 60 pips today......
