It appeares Microsoft has locked refresh rates for CRT monitors at max 85HZ. due to security reasons. Question is: How do you contact Microsoft for a patch, Windows should be able to distinguish a TV or any HDMI devices from a CRT screen ?

This happened around the same time the background downloader kicked in, and nothing else has been updated on my computer. now when ever i am on wow, on average every 2-3 minutes, often several times a go, my screen has what i can only describe as refresh rate issued. my screen lags for 1-5 seconds a go, and i see the screen refreshes once per second, instead of 60 odd times a second. ...

It seems this problem just wont die. I have a CRT as my main gaming monitor. ( no i wont buy a lcd) I was using Powerstip which was the only program powerful enough to force 85hz or 100hz refresh rate in DX 9 and DX 10 games. Does anyone know how to reset the trial 30 day limit of Powerstrip so i can keep using it? Or perhaps an alternative to it that works with Crysis and DX 10 games? This ...

Hey guys! The logic board of my MBP was recently replaced due to the problem with the 8600GT. Now I can easily see "waves" floating from the top to the bottom of the display as if the refresh rate is now visible. It's annoying. Any ideas what the problem might be? Last time I sent it to the service to be repaired, they scratched the case and had to replace it. I don't really want...

Ok. I wanted to play starcraft on my Toshiba Regza television set, so I plugged in my PC. It refused to show video beyond the windows emblem. I searched online, and found that I needed to change my refresh rate to 60GHz, so I did. When I reset my computer, it did not show any video response on the TV or on my regular monitor. What is wrong, and how can I fix it? I am willing to reset ...

I can see the 60 Hz option and I can change to it on both of my monitors but the rate reverts to 59Hz. The hardware is a BFG GTX 285 running two Samsung 245T monitors. The graphics driver is the latest and the latest monitor drivers are installed. The image quality is excellent and the performance is also excellent but this bug is puzzling me. 1 person needs an answer I do too

In reply to a post by Pipexer : In reply to a post by AnotherExPipex : To me it seems crazy that they are not prepared to allow a workaround and that people are going to have to resort to physically altering their hardware to get a feature that worked in XP to work in Win7. But that is always going to be the way with new Operating Systems. At some point they drop support for ...

Most projectors accept & display at 60hz, so it is the most common refresh rate to send to it. Higher rates/lower rates often have a detrimental effect on image quality, but you are free to judge this for yourself.

Re: Impossible to change HDMI refresh rate. Mmh, I spoke too soon. While I can now set the refresh rate to 50Hz, xine stutters badly, so I cannot really use it. Maybe it's because the laptop panel is fixed at 60Hz (and there's no other possible refresh rate).
