Now that the team has decided to pull the redshirt from freshman Chris Brew, I'm hoping he gets more than one minute a game, because if that trend continues, he would have wasted a year or eligibility.

While he didnt tab Ford by name, Miles gave strong indication that No. 42 was the man in question. Theres a freshman tailback that weve considered taking the redshirt off, admitted Miles. http://www.tigerrag.com/?p=16461 Corndogs are having a fit over this and rightly so. 11 games in? Unreal...

I'm with the Derka crowd. Sometimes you need your "big" men to be, you know, big. And I don't see the point in sacrificing any small advantage this year for potential in a couple years. This is the best shot that Texas has had at a national title. We need to go all in on this year and worry about the future down the road.

Why did we burn Greens redshirt for his little playing time this year because the original thought was that Green would spark the brain-dead offense when we were 4-3 midway through the season. He got the start against Baylor, and played ok, but not exactly spectacular. The team made the right move in starting Lee over Green vs. OU, and after that, Lee started playing better after mid-...

ECFS does not redshirt at all!! In my dd's class there are 4 kids with August b-days and they are all the youngest, not the oldest. A friend was applying for her 2nd child and asked the school to red shirt her younger child, who is a summer boy, and they wouldn't let her. I even know a late august boy in the pre-k. He turned 4 just before school started, while other kids in the class are 11 1...

Redshirting allows a player to practice (but not play in games) to improve without losing a year of eligibility. So, if you redshirt a freshman, he will still be a freshman the following season, hopefully with improved skills. You can only redshirt a player once, btw. I tend to redshirt weaker players who are low on the depth chart.
