Do you think $1.30 - $1.40 per pound is reasonable? The ingredients: whole ground chicken, green tripe, organ meats, butternut squash, broccoli, parsley, carrots, spinach, raw apple cider vinegar, kelp, apples, blueberries, raw eggs w/shell (whites cooked), salmon oil, cod liver oil, sunflower oil, virgin coconut oil... Healthy paws raw dog food! Has anyone researched this product? I am looking for some feed back. I recently went to a Global Pet Food store and they had 5 fridges of Raw food, looks like it is high in demand and gaining popularity these days. My Teddy loves the raw food! Here's a great blog post that discusses the raw vs. cooked controversy. "There?s been a lot written about raw food for dogs ? some praising it, others condemning it. I think that the whole ?raw vs. cooked? controversy is an unnecessary distraction from the real issue that should be focused on, which is ?fresh food vs. processed food?." My roommate has been feeding this recipe to my dogs and I wanted to run it by you and see what you think of it. This whole thing came about because my 5yr old Tervuren has developed some sort of allergy and we were thinking this might help as a food substitute. 4 cups dry brown rice cooked in 8 cups water (undrained) cook 40 minutes 2 cups quinoa in 4 cups water (undrained) cook 20 minutes 1...

Oh, I am so sorry to hear this. The excessive drinking/peeing issue was what clued me in to Mysti's kidney issues too. She has malformed kidneys, turns out, and could not handle processing very high protein. It sounds as if you have caught the issue early and will hopefully be able to deal with it the same way we do. Diet and blood work to check kidney function. Other than that, you would ...

I feed my dogs once a day. I think it's better than twice a day because it means a bigger meal, more chewing, better dental scrubbing, etc. The only reason I'd split it is if he's got an extremely sensitive tummy and isn't handling the one meal well now. I think from what you've described you're just fine!

Shelbysdad2, I can truly sympathize with you! My one dog has had terrible allergies for years and it has been a losing battle. We have done steroid pills, injections, supplements, shampoos, sprays, all types of dog food with novel proteins (duck, fish, etc.) and nothing has worked! Sigh, it's so frustrating! I actually joined this forum to learn more about raw, & I have switched ...

Sorry to hear that you can't get raw Nature's Variety anywhere.. I get them from the daycare centre where I send my 5-month old pup, they come in 3lb medallions (1oz per medallion, there's about 48 medallions in a bag), and each bag costs only $17.99 (in Canadian dollars) for beef. Chicken is about $15.99. That said, it works out to not much more expensive than quality kibble (6.6lbs of EVO red...

Well both of my dogs have been raw fed since I got them as pups.. but Marley my GSD sheds WAAAY less then any GSD I know. He will blow a little coat twice a year and very low shedding inbetween then. Paris sheds but she gets a bath every other week and brushed every week so its not too bad, unless you have on dark clothing and shes rubbing on you but she sheds less then other Cavaliers I know. ...
