The electronics in my 1997 Nissan Maxima slowly powered off on me while I was driving down the highway the other day—the whole dash, including the radio, just faded out. It ended up that the alternator had failed and my battery had run out. I had the alternator replaced. After getting my car back from the shop, however, the dashboard clock is completely black, the keyless entry/alarm no longer ...

I JUST HOOKED UP MY SIRIUS RADIO,ACTIVATED IT FOR A YEAR,BUT SOUNDS LIKE STATIC MY REGULAR FM STATIONS ARE CLEAR SOUNDING,THE KIT CAME WITH AN ADDITIONAL FM ANTENNA,WAS I SUPPOSED TO HOOK IT UP AS WELL? Answer Hi Bob, Most Sirius radio kits come with an FM output extension wire, which is meant to be routed as close as possible to the factory AM/FM antenna. This sometimes helps improve ...

OK, stupid question. I managed to get the stock antenna cable removed - tied a string to the end of it before I did that. Now, I did manage to get the new antenna cable through the hole in the firewall, but it seems to be binding and won't feed through. I'm hopeing that I don't need to remove the entire dashboard in order to get the cable fed to the stereo... any ideas or suggestions?

My wife's 2008 E just started having radio issues. While all other stations work fine, her XM comes in and out, mostly out. She's called XM and everything is working from their end. She can get a few seconds of XM and then it goes dead for several seconds. I've pulled the radio and everything seems tight on the back (but I don't see a traditional antenna jack plugged in???) I've ...

I've read some conflicting statements in the past years about placement of the XM radio antenna. I have Garmin Zumo 550. When I installed it this time last year, it seemed that the consensus was that the antenna is much better placed outside the fairing due to improved reception. This is the same reason a car XM radio antenna is placed on roof if OEM installed and in windshield if ...

Greetings: My wife is driving a 2006 325i without iDrive. The radio has an Aux-In jack and sounds great with her iPod. However, we've had nothing but trouble with the over-the-air reception. After complaining enough to my dealer (who receives radio reception but I live in a rural area far from radio stations) he finally discovered the problem: when after...

First time posting but I've been using this site religiously since I bought my Titan back in October. I want to get a CB to add to my Titan (most likely a Cobra all-in-one hand held) but my big hold up is exactly how to run the antenna co-ax cable and where to mount the antennas themselves. I did run my off-road and back-up light switch wires through the firewall where the hood release is...

I am putting a am/fm radio/cd player back in my rig. I threw away the antenna setup. Can one hook up a short (2ft) cb radio antenna to replace a stock am/fm antenna?

I ride an '05RKC and I use a thin strip of metal with a right-angle bend at the top on which I mount the magnetic antenna. This metal strip mounts to the windshield with those little rubber section cups, usually on the top-right corner as my riding is done mostly in the Yukon and Alaska, which puts the XM satellite in the South-East. If I mount the antenna anywhere else on the windshield, I ...

A little clarification here, I hope. Be aware that the audio wiring differs from year to year in detail. Use the search within this forum feature to find more specific info on particular model and year installations. The primary audio amp is behind the dash on the PS. The amp in the right rear is solely for the sub-woofer in the LandCruiser. The LX450 has a sub-woofer and amp in the center ...

No go. Twine busted and I ended up breaking my glovebox door in the process. Looks like I'll need to pull the dashboard away from the firewall and take a trip to the pick n pull to find a replacement glovebox.

Its the black base for the regular antenna. Mine doesn't have it so I wouldn't know on how to remove it. Heard that the headliner has to come down to get to the screws for the antenna. Thats if the antenna is the problem. Don't know if the antenna plug is the same as mine but if you feel its the antenna thats the culprit and there is the same plug in the back of the radio you might be able to get...

It's not a good idea to run down a lead-acid battery. Battery cells sulphation can lead to premature battery failure at the same time impose a burden on the new alternator. The 'dead' battery should have been charged while awaiting for the alternator to be replaced. Since you already know the Fuse Box location, check the ACCESSORY relay as well as CB-1. Both of them are located close to the ...

Re: CB Radio Antenna Cable Routing and Antenna Mounting One antenna mounted on the roof will perform much better than duals mounted behind the cab on the bed rails. The duals would work there, but they would have to be a lot taller than the cab, 2/3 of the antenna must be above the roof line for proper performance. Duals also concentrate the ...
