You gotta love supply and demand. Quote: Radeon HD 5850 is getting more expensive Apparently AMD is selling quite a lot of Radeon HD 5850s at the moment. But due to higher production costs, the company will increase the price of the DirectX 11 graphics card. The AMD/Ati Radeon HD 5850 is supposed to become a little more expensive. It has already been...

My ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro video card in my Dell XPS 420 is making a lot of noise due to a noisy cooling fan. I removed the video card and cleaned the fan and heat sink and then applied a couple of drops of light weight oil to the fan bearing/bushing and then reinstalled the video card. The fan sounded much better for awhile, but the noise keeps coming and going from time to time. I would just...

Hi all, I had a bit of a battle with 2009.x getting the above card to work, as the proprietary driver didn't fully support it initially, but after a little work have been using it for some time without problem. In my haste to upgrade to 2010 I didn't check to see if it worked and so far have been unable to fix it. If I select the Xorg radeonhd driver that doesn't work, since...

In the final step of installation, the screen goes black and does not recover. One proposed solution was to delete the ATI driver from the system32\driver folder and let the install continue, which it tries to do, but then fails with an error dialog box stating that "the computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error" and the install goes into an infinite loop (restart, same...

Thinking of buying one (or two) of these to upgrade from my 8800gts 320mb card. Will I be happy with one? If you think I will notice a big difference with one then im assuming two would be amazing for me. Opinions please. Well, I got a question... Wich is best; GTX 285 (2GB) Video card or the Radeon HD 5870 (1GB) Video Card Are the GTX 285's better because of the 2GB or is the 5870 better because of the DirectX 11 support & GDDR5? Comparision The GTX 295 is better than the HD 5870, And it has 1792mb... Soo, I guess that the dual GTX 285 is better?
a Geforce GT 230M if they both the same amount of dedicated memory? Same(ish) processors pushing it, the Radeon HD would have 2gigs more RAM but it would be DDR2 and not DDR3 (It is 64 bit), although with the current latency issues I doubt it matters much
