Quarantine rules waived for pets imported from countries with low rabies risk SINGAPORE : From next year, dogs and cats brought in from countries with a low risk of rabies will no longer need to be quarantined. This is part of a review by the Agri—Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) to ease import restrictions for animals, while keeping Singapore free from rabies. Under ...

Hi all. I have a 3 1/2 year old chi, and starting with his first rabies vaccine, the injection site gets infected. I notice it, about a month later, as a little fluid pack builds up, and gets bigger and bigger until the vet has to lance it, and then he puts him on double antibiotics. I don't know what to do. My 2 smallest dogs (he's the smallest) go potty indoors on wee-wee pads, and ...

Hi all I took Kosmo to his first vet visit to treat worms (oh fun). At 15 weeks he weighs 51lbs and is 26" tall. He growing so fast! The breeder told me that I shouldn't give him his rabies shot until he was 22 weeks old. When I mentioned it to the vet, who is new to me, she looked at me like I was crazy and said she had never heard of it. Which is it? Kelly and Kosmo

My husband and I had a female german shepard that is until she died last night. She was 9 months old. But about 5 days ago we brought her to a vet to get her rabies shot and a micro chip. A day later after her getting the shot she became sick and didn't want to eat or drink water. She even started throwing up. She just completely stopped eating period. We called the vet and they told us ...

I've been reading a lot about vaccinations lately- because it's time for my babies to get theirs. I've noticed there are a lot of adverse reactions to the Rabies Shot- especially in small dogs. My Chihuahua is only 4 lbs and he's fully grown. How exactly do dogs get Rabies? Is it really necessary for my Chihuahua to get a Rabies Shot? Please don't be mean and tell me I'm stupid and ...

Unfortunately I was bitten by a friends dog on Friday evening which landed me in the ER. Â The dog was current on rabies shots. Â However, it is standard practice to observe the animal for 10-14 days and if the animal continues to act normal, then all is well in terms of rabies. Â After my wife took me to the ER my friend promptly took the dog out and disposed of it. Â Protocol states if you can not ...

I'm trying to understand the male urge to have children. For those of you that already know you want to have kids, it's a clear goal for your future, I can see where you are coming from. I'm more interested in understanding the men that are on the fence. If you think maybe you want kids someday, what do you think will push you off the fence on one side or the other? Is it ...

Edward attacked me yesterday! I was asleep on the couch and wrapped up in a blankie. What I didn't know is that the Edster had snuck up and fallen asleep near my feet. I stretched out and I squished him against the arm of the sofa. He usually sleeps on top of me, but will sleep against my knees on occasion. I guess I caught him in a awkward position...... That boy came out of his...

I adopted 2 15 week old kittens last week. They were outdoor kittens. We have an appointment to get them neutered tomorrow and when filling out the paperwork tonight I saw they also do vaccines and leukemia testing. Are these necessary? I know we need to get the rabies vaccine by law, but I'm not sure I want/need the others. They will be inside cats (as is my other cat). Also, do we...

Two of Milie's titres came back as being therapeutic and we are still waiting on the rabies. I'm quite certain that will be therapeutic as well. This will mean she did not require the yearly booster shots that our vet and kennel suggested. 167 dollars is a fair bit of money to show that she didn't need anything. I'm grateful that it isn't a hardship to pay for it and that I didn't put ...
Kosmo went in for his check up today. He's 51 pounds and 21 inches tall. He's growing so fast! The breeder I got him from said I shouldn't give him a rabies shot until he turned 22 weeks old, and that was specific to the breed. My vet (who is brand new to me also) looked at me like I was nuts when I told them. Is that a true statement? Kelly and Kosmo

Today, I accomplished several things I needed to do before we leave. I got Hermione's rabies vaccine re-done, and got each dog a new collar (long story), and new ID tags for them. The old tags had the old phone number on them. This time, I put my cell number on them, since if I end up having to cancel home phone service, my cell will be all I have. I finished cleaning all the glass inside the ...
