Hello everybody, I am having problems with a VSX94 pioneer elite receiver via RS232 I do not know if it is the baud rate or the catse wiring and it is hooked up to an XP-8 and 40 feet of cat5e terminated in A with RJ45 connectors. on one end it goes in the XP-8 on the receiver end it goes to that RJ45 to serial connector that comes with the XP-8 and I had to add a gender bender ...

Hello, I have been doing some research on how to read and write using the serial port with RS232. The only example I found was a test program that is really involved. All I need to do is transmit 7 information bits which will pass through a digital communications kit then Read the same 7 info bits after the comm kit. (7 bits not including stop bits, parity bits..ect). So I ...

A while back there was a flurry pf questions regarding RS232 communications. It seems that is happening again with new Pronto PRO users. I posted a document on my web site ( www.the-gordons.net ). It is reachable from the first page under the link to downloads. You will then find a link (a little navigation required) to a document called Pronto PRO Communications. I suggest those of you ...

I tried about 2 years ago to get an older Pioneer Elite (930HD?) working via RS232 with no luck, luckily IR was easy enough in the setting the TV was in. Now I have a bedroom wall with a Pioneer Elite on the way (Pro-111FD) and I want to set it up with a XP8 and RS232 over cat5e. I have the XP8 and a few CM232's lying around. Do I need to get a null modem cable/adapter for this? I also already ...

Hello there, I have been changing over to RS232 and have noticed my library to be a little incomplete. I do have codes from the RTI library as well as the codes from the URC database. I know some of you may have compiled a larger list and was hoping that you may share them with me. I would probably only need one of the zones since it is easy to compare and change for the other zones. I am ...

Has anyone had success controlling a gefen compaud 444 video matrix serially? I am working on controlling one with a control4 HC300, and was just curious if it works, and which codes to use. The manual has codes for the input switching. There are binary codes and ASCII codes both. Control 4's driver building utility does not seem to like the binary codes. (something about the value being...

I have a new Panasonic PT-AE4000 projector I'm trying to configure for use with my Harmony 890. The problem I've having is that many of the functions I want to automate are buried in the AE4000's menus (e.g. Lens Memory Load, which in the AE3000 could be assigned to a function button, but the 4000 lost that ability). The Harmony sequence limit of five commands isn't enough to traverse the ...

Hi everyone, I was trying to use LabVEW8.5 to connect with Polhemus Fastrak with 4 sensors, and encountered a problem with "buffer".. I have tried to use NI-VISA to read buffer from the machine and it's been done. But the string was really terribly stuck up with each other and encounterd data loss. I had read about the related discussions here and another form about labview ...

I would like to control the toppy 5800 from an AV control system which can make use of the serial port. The plan is to send the toppy to sleep when I turn the AV system off and wake it up when I switch it on. Ok, fairly straight forward you would think. There doesn't appear to be a direct SLEEP command so I will probably need to motion through OPT, then DOWN and couple of times, etc. That...

Hey guys, this isn't related to internet but more towards software development... With my software the client uses wireless (bluetooth) barcode scanners. The current range extenders I have been using are RS232 interface, plus a serial-USB converter, of which both drivers are endlessly buggy. These range extenders come with 5dbi, RP-SMA antennas and can reach a range of up to 150m....

After much effort I figured out how to add RS232 serial communications capability to the iPAQ 210, so I'd thought I'd share my knowledge to help others. Unlike older models the 210 has no RS232 port, but it has USB hosting capability. Hardware needed: 1. HP iPAQ 200 Series Enhanced Sync/Charge Cable (FB112AA) which gives you a place to plug in a USB to serial adapter. 2. FTDI US232R-100...

I have some old hardware with an RS232 (9 pin) connection to my notebook. I have downloaded a driver for the Serial to USB converter, and my Vista Enterprise OS seems happy with it. However, the hardware only allows communication with COM ports 1 to 4, and as far as I can judge my USB ports are 8, 9 and 10. Can I renumber these ports to make communication possible, or is there another way of ...
