My Win7 boots so fast, don't think it'll make a time difference but I just got done running memtest86+ which I had to burn to DVD. I of course had to go into BIOS and make it boot to DVD Rom to make it work. That was days ago and I just realized I never went back into BIOS to make it boot to my C drive first, it still tries to boot to my DVD first, then C drive second and I thought to ...

I'm trying to update my ASUS M4A78T-E BIOS with the latest download on their website. I have successfully downloaded the file and unzipped it, but it leaves me with a .ROM file that my system apparently can not run (it's asking me for what program to use). Did I screw up the process here, or am I simply missing a necessary program?

I used "saverom att143.rom 16" to make a 16KB file... hopefully it grabbed the right thing. So, I offer no guarantees that the file will work, but I have it for you to try. You'll need to split it in order to write it to chip, but that shouldn't be too difficult. If you do not have success with it, get back to me and I'll make an attempt at a different method of dumping it.

The old hard drive is still good. I just cant install the OS on the old laptop hard drive because I dont have a CD-ROM or Floppy. And the old hard drive's OS is gone so it wont even boot up to windows.

It will also take a bit longer to boot than normal since it will check for a DVD before it boots from the hard drive. I usually just hold down 'Del' (gigabyte mobo) after it POSTs when I need to boot from a DVD or Thumbdrive and select whichever boot media I would like to boot from. Otherwise it automatically boots from the hard drive first.

drive is ahead of the hard drive in the boot order? If it's a bootable CD, you put that in first and boot from there.
