This is undoubtedly a newbie question. In PSE8, how can I determine if I have the latest version of the Raw Converter. If I don't , then how do I get it and where do I store it when I download it? Any help or insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks. WesternGuy

When I uploaded my RAW picture, I noticed it to be in .jpeg format, as well as .nef format... Can anyone tell me why it saved it as two different files and when editing in Photoshop, do I open up both images, or just the .nef formatted image?

I've just gotten back from my school's library, where I was using one of the scanners to scan my negatives. I scanned the files directly into photoshop CS3. In retrospect, I absolutely should have saved in tiff, which has worked before, but this time I saved the files in raw. This is Photoshop Raw, not Camera Raw. I assumed that I could open these files back on my home computer (Photoshop CS4...

I have a quick question about processing RAW images with this utility... My normal workflow is this: I open my RAW file in DPP, click the RGB tab, set the sharpness to 250 and do a "tone curve assit - standard" I then convert and save the file as a jpeg. When I look at the RGB tab of the jpeg file I just created in DPP, none of the changes are reflected (sharpness is...

I am receiving an error/damaged message when I try importing a select group of photos into Lightroom - both importing from my hardrive and directly from the camera card. These photos in particular were taken with the Canon 50d I rented for a weekend and the photos are mainly of my son's birthday party. (Couldn't just be of flowers or trees, right?) The other pictures on my card taken with my ...

I edit my RAW image in DPP and when I save as TIFF (or use transfer to photoshop), the image in photoshop doesn't have any of the changes that I made. For example the sharpness applied is lost and the color settings are wrong. If I use printscreen to bring the DPP image to photoshop (just for comparison of course), the sharpness is retained but the colors are of. Both DPP and PS show that the ...

I've just upgraded from Elements 5 to 8... I am quite happy with using RAW files and all went smoothly using ACR in PSE5, however, it appears that somewhere, somehow, ACR 5.5 or the Editor in PSE 8 are saving settings when I ask it not to save any. It has overwritten two of my original RAW files despite me asking it not to! The process: from Organiser, I choose editing in Elements ...

It seems a little strange to write raw binary text to an ini file. Usually you want plain text that a user could read or modify manually. One quick alternative to the ini file would be an XML file using the default LabVIEW schema. It automatically flattens all data types to readable text. I personally don't think it's the best schema in the world, but it's quick and easy. Your other...

Have you figured out a workaround for this? Most of the forums regarding this issue are windows related or full of arguments. I'm guessing there may not be a solution to this problem so I'm curious what approach you're taking. Thanks!

By default, Adobe Bridge does NOT show XMP files. To see them you'd need to go to View > Show Hidden Files. Otherwise, the only way to see if XMP files are created is by using your file manager i.e. Windows Explorer or Finder.
