I have been offered a front office quant role in an energy trading group. I know these are very volatile times. I want some guidance on how to be valued in this role..How best to gain the trust and confidence of the traders and senior quants. Also how does the career progress work? What does a quant VP and SVP do for instance? I am pretty familiar with the Hull and Wilmott ...

hello, I had an average of Q48 but I got a Q42 on my GMAT recently. I'm taking it again in 3 weeks, can anyone advise me how to increase my quant score? the questions weren't very hard, the only reason i couldn't do them was that i felt i didn't have enough time, and especially the DS ones, i just guessed on so many because i was seriously running out of time. what do i do to improve my scores...

Hi Guys, I gave my Manhatthan GMAT Free CAT today and was pretty disappointed with my score. I got a 640 (Q -44, V-34). Below is a brief of what my thoughts on the test are: Quant: Got screwed with timing Missed one question Last 8-10 were random clicks pretty much as I had 1 minute to answer them Verbal: Looked decent when I was solving it but was surprised to see so many ...

My overall score is a 760, but the breakdown was 51 (V) and 44 (Q). I've been told that MBA admissions officers care more about the quant score than verbal, so do you think my breakdown merits me retaking the test? I was feeling a bit woozy in the early morning and I know I have the ability to do much better than 44 on quantitative. My only concern about retaking is that there is the ...

I know the verbal section on the GRE is harder than the SAT (without studying at all, I got 510 on the verbal for GRE, whereas I got 750 on SAT). But what about the quant? Is it easier or harder? Princeton Review says its easier in their latest book. I only ask because I have a SAT book that goes through lots of math problems and I'm wondering if it's worth revising these.

Quote from Kovacs: For example, I want to build a Market Making model. I know conceptually how I want to go about doing this, but I don't have the mathematical tools to describe or investigate what I'm trying to exploit. I want to keep a running average of how many steps it takes a certain security to move from one price to another within each minute of the trading ...

what does a quant for treasuries do? anyways.... to offer a different perspective. Structuring is a hit and run job, meaning you do this for a few years and then quit. The hours are long and it involves a lot of grunt work, especially if you are a junior. Also structuring can mean different things at different shops and/or asset classes. But a PhD structurer is a bit of a ...
