Cost is not a concern since I have all the parts necessary for the conversion. My purpose in converting is to improve chainline, simplify shifting, and lower Q-factor.

After many years using Campy, thinking about getting SRAM Red. I have a narrow stance so Campy's q-factor has worked fine over the years (alot of playing around with lateral cleat placement). Does anyone know Red's q-factor (customer service gave me 145mm but that doesn't seem correct with Campy being 145.5m and Red supposedly being wider). The difference is probably academic at this ...

Having had a recent bike fit I was advised to decrease my Q Factor as and I quote from my analysis Quote: One thing I did notice after you left the clinic was the width of your stance base . Ideally the knee should sit on a vertical line from hip to the ankle/ foot which on assessment of the diagonal motion of the left knee appears not to be the case. Figure 6...

I need some help and hoping someone here can help me. I purchased a NOS 2006 Campy Veloce compact crank and Campy Chorus 68x102 square taper bottom bracket and when I installed it, the small chainring touched the frame. It is obvious now that it was the wrong combination. I have a Chorus ultra torque crankset on another bike and the q factor of 145.5 is perfect for me and I want ...

What would be a cheap crankset with a low q-factor for a 2009 Specialized Rockhopper Comp Disc? It would still need to be a mountain triple, and the budget is small, preferably under $50..... The stock crank is a Shimano FC-M361 with a BB-ES25 Octalink BB 68x118 bottom bracket. Could I just put in a narrower bottom bracket, like a 68x113 octalink, or would there be chainring clearance ...

Hello all - my very first post - I have been out of road cycling for a while - 20 years or so and enjoying curb hopping on my Mountain bike in the mean time. My last road bike was a Mercian Superlight with TA crank and Record BB. One of the things I like about the Mt. setup is the wide stance of the pedals - or I should say that my knees like it. So, I recently purchased a '98 Merlin ...

This is my understanding. Q factor is the relationship of width distance your feet are apart when you are pedaling. i.e. your legs are further apart riding a triple than if you are riding a double. I have both double and triple and I'm curious if the difference makes a lot of difference for power output, cadence speed etc. I have been noticing that when I ride my double, I spin faster and ...

Anyone have these two cranks to compare? I have Dura Ace and I'm trying to match Q factory width on some new cranks. The Red cranks I have are too wide. The literature says they are both 147mm, but I've seen some places quote the FSA's as 150mm. The Reds are 150mm and they don't work for me. Seems silly, but it makes a difference. Thanks! Well, my knee thanks you...

Has anyone got their hands on a pair of sram xx cranks, and tried fitting them on an ellsworth? I have the assymetric chainstay on an older truth, and am wondering if i should order the low-q factor crank, or settle for the wider one (166mm). I run 170mm cranks. SC
