So I've noticed this lately when I tried replacing a broken .exe file with a new one that I downloaded. I dragged the new .exe file from my desktop to Program Files (x86) > XXXXX and normally it would just ask if I wanted to overwrite the old .exe, but now it's just asking me about creating a link, and telling me I can't link here and if I want to create a link on the desktop. I am showing J2SE Runtime Environments 5.0 updates 1,10, 11,2,4,6, and 9 in my program files. I also have Java (TM) Updates 17. 2, 3. 5. 7. and 6. Do I need to keep all of them or just the latest? They are really taking up a lot of space

my question is in regards to Vista 64. First, I'm wondering if programs I upload to my computer will automatically know which program files folder to locate themselves in.... (Program Files or Program Files(x86).... and second, I wonder how those files will transport when I upgrade to Windows 7. 1 person needs an answer I do too
