I have 2GB memory installed and the system is Windows 7. The whole system suddenly begins to be very very slow when I was editing a folder's name whose parent folder is synced in Live Mesh. then this file browser stops reacting and i took me for like 15 mins to open task manager. It turns out that this "explorer.exe" has grown to about 1.2GB. the indicator of hard disk keeps flashing so the hard...

Hi All, I'm assessing Norton Internet Security on XP. Process Explorer allows me to list handles. However, there are a considerable number of handles that don't have a type. It looks as though 'File' (and perhaps 'Pipe') have been replaced with empty strings. A couple of questions: 1) Has anyone seen this before? 2) What does it buy the program in terms of security...

I just installed Autoruns and don't have a clue what it's all about (yet), but with my son's help I should be able to learn something(?). While going through the program and checking things out, I got the following error message after doing the following steps.... (I get the same ...

The net effect was to render Task Manager unavailable through Windows, reporting that the file is not present (which it is.) I initially thought taskmgr.exe had been corrupted but found a thread that led me to the fix listed below. As usual, do not mess with the registry before making a backup of it and even then do so at your own peril. Edit the registry using ...

This is odd behaviour. Sometimes (I haven'y yet found a pattern) on opening Process Explorer its font has changed to size 7 instead of the size 8 (or sometimes 9) it was set at during the previous session. This is MS Sans Serif Regular. It started a few days ago. The only 'new' things I can think of don't seem relevant but I'll mention then just in case: 1. Changed the ...

Hi gang, Can someone please confirm/deny that the "suspend process" functionality in Process Explorer is implemented by calling CreateToolhelp32Snapshot() to get the list of threads in a process and then calling SuspendThread() on each of these? If this is not the case, can someone please advise of a better solution. Cheers, Daniel

Close the window 3.CLick on the button a third time, get an error message THE PATH "\...

Yeah that was one point I was thinking. but i couldn't find any possible reason. the hd is only 3 month old and the computer is merely 1 year. what do you mean the motherboard battery completely stuffed? does it mean the battery was dead? i would check that later. it was funny that right before all this, i created a LiveMeshLogs.cab file. do you need to see this file? i am not sure if this ...

It sounds like you have some corruption or malware in your system files - especially since so many different things are affected. We'll address both in the procedures that follow. Do you know when this problem began? Try a System Restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem began. Here's the procedure: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using -windows-vista-system-restore...

No it did not help. I have set Windows Live Mail as the default mail program. I am still unable to send a URL link. I can do so on Mozilla Firefox, but not on IE 8. Let's try again because I prefer IE to Firefox.

Hey Ronny. The IE crash happens because when you try to run CCF Desktop, there is a possibility that the IE process is still running in the background due to the fact that you may have closed down the desktop without it killing the relevant processes. Usually happens when running in i.e. Visual Studio debugging mode and instead of closing it down properly you just press Stop Debugging. Try ...
