So, we all hate our job at our eikaiwa. We have all considered quitting. We are all too much of a pvssy to quit, so we stay. I too, am a pvssy, and I am not confident enough to quit... YET. What are the PROS and CONS of quitting the eikaiwa, getting a new house, and just doing privates in a coffee shop? Current situation: Currently in an apartment in a suburb of Tokyo (Key ...

Has anyone used this site or have any idea to its legality. I am wondering if anyone has actually used it and was able to get students. Also does anyone have any suggestions on how to get private students? I have been here for 6 months teaching which i know is not long compared to many but i would like to be a bit more stable with an extra income to have a cushion. And unfortunately I teach ...

I've been learning guitar bit by bit on my own for the last 4-5 months and i'm looking into private lessons to help me out. Are there certain things I should be asking about to make sure I get the most out of it? I don't want to just learn other songs, I want to learn how to improvise and stuff. So if there are certain things I should ask them to show me, let me know. Also rates... what...

The first time i had my lesson (basically easy songs on first string) i thought it was pretty easy and i completed all the things he told me too and for the next 6 days i practiced some basic open major chords, i ...

Depends, what Visa status are you on? When it comes to visa renewal if you are on a Work Visa, teaching privates won't fly with immigration. No matter what visa you are on, just relying on privates alone is not realistic (in my opinion). Are there some people out there who can do it, I'm sure. There are many threads about privates, but to name some, no job security, pain in the ...

I think if you are even thinking about doing privates you have to have your own place. I think students never truly relax in a coffee shop. Too many people around, maybe even eavesdropping. I have taught lots of private lessons on the side, and the way the students kept returning--and I kept getting recommendations-- was by preparing ORIGINAL materials, tailored to their needs. I also gave ...

Yeah, it seems very reasonable. It is at the rec center of the university where DH works so they are only available to student, staff and staff families. We also get to swim there all weekend during the school year for free!

My DS like the lesson's at Abbey Rienke. He was 5, but hadn't started school yet. He quit due to other sports, two at once were too much to handle.
