I'm green @ painting but I want to do it myself, ventilation is not an option. I think I want to go with self etching epoxy primer and urethane single stage when I paint. Will an organic vapor cartridge based chemical mask be sufficient or do I need rubber gloves and suit to save absorption through the skin? Or is there paint /clear coat without isocyanates?

hey.... while I have my door panels off, thinking of giving the door handles and other bits of trim a face lift (*evil laughter*) Mate of mine was saying you need a special type of primer/paint for interior coz of heat in cabin due to sun, and not wanting it to go tacky esp handles and other places your hands will go. What\'s best to get?

When I bought my car just a couple of months ago the engine bay was all primered or painted black. I mean this guy hit everything. Including all of the coolant reservoirs and everything. Should I be able to use some basic paint thinner to remove this completely? Can I use a little gas as well? Which is better? Do I have to worry about it hurting the reservoirs? Here are a couple of ...

Am about to paint my bike in the next couple of weeks (after a lot of slow prep work and delays, etc). Am tentatively going with PPG Deltron as it seems to be among the very best base and clearcoat systems around. (I know it's pricey already but, uh, it's going on MY BIKE , you know...). PPG makes a ton of different primers, sealers, paints, clears and so on. So far I plan on using DPLF ...

Hi, I'd appreciate some advise. Which is the best primer for timber - wood Exterior windows. We have removed as much of the old paint as possible. About 70 % is bare wood now. These are quite old windows. Some parts the condition not that great. After using the primer, which is the best undercoat - top coat paints . Want to to do gloss white finally.. There are...

does anyone know of a good primer that comes in an aerosol can? i tried that rust check stuff from cdn tire and it did an incredibly terrible job at sealing the metal. i sandblasted, cleaned with brake clean, wiped dry and then sprayed. i put that paint down and then that rubberized undercoating on top last year and it looked good as new. now it looks like a p.o.s. the car isn't winter driven ...

Read the product data sheet for your primers, paint and/or clear. Some recommend fresh air respirators, some do not. Carbon type masks are not recommended for paints containing isocyanates. And you sure don't want to use them in a garage attached to your house. You could injure family members.

I would error on the side of caution, and use the primer. I'd say the jury remains out, and I'd wait for more data. If you've spent all that time on removing wallpaper (which I hate, there's little that worse than that!) I'd take the time to do it the tried and true way. There are lots of "great ideas" that haven't always performed the way we desire. They sound great and may even work ...
we are painting right now....we bought the behr ultra thats the primer and paint in 1. Shit is expensive like $33 a gallon but its turning out pretty good
