I know this sounds stupid. From the first time I heard it, I just assumed it had to deal with cities and towns creatings laws that conflicted at the state level. Am I off? All I got from Wiki was: Quote: "Preemption" is also sometimes used in the United States to refer to the displacing effect state laws might have on ordinances enacted by municipalities, ...

Published at LXer: Prior to the Eleventh Real Time Linux Workshop in Dresden, Germany, a small group met to discuss the further development of the realtime preemption work for the Linux kernel. This "mini-summit" covered a wide range of topics, but was driven by a straightforward set of goals: the continuing improvement of realtime capabilities in Linux and the merging of the realtime ...

Hi, I'm a newbie in real time programming under linux and I've been reading about the real time capabilities of standard linux kernel 2.6 and the CONFIG_PREEMPT, but after reading tens of articles I couldn't find out if I can use this capability of the standard linux kernel in a program written in programin languages other than C or not! I think I need to use the Linux Kernel API in order to ...

When the Bush administration started lobbying for war with Iraq, they used as rationale a definition of preemption (generally meaning anticipatory use of force in the face of an imminent attack) that was broadened to allow for the waging of a preventive war in which force may be used even without evidence of an imminent attack. They also were able to ...

There is a sign prohibiting the carrying of firearms at the 24 hr. fishing area at Core Creek park ( County Park ). in Langhorne Bucks County. I think this sign many be a violation of 6120 Pa law. Any input on this would help me understand the preemption law Thanks, Extinquisher357

Hi. If CONFIG_PREEMPT is set on your kernel, then you're already using it - there's no API to use beyond the POSIX threading model that you're already using, so you don't have to do anything with your applications. CONFIG_PREEMPT only affects kernel code by making preemptible, blocks of code that normally aren't. This lowers latency (at the price of a small drop in overall throughput) and ...

QUOTE (jpod @ Dec 22 2009, 01:57 PM) How about being summoned to appear before a very angry judge for enabling a participant to violate a court order? What is the compelling reason for an employer/plan adminstrator to suffer that aggravation? The "sanctity" of ERISA preemption? Give me a break. How is that possible when (except in CA, maybe) the PA is not a party to suit or ...

This happened last summer. I was vacationing in Rehoboth Beach, DE. I am a Pennsylvania citizen. I contacted RBPD before visiting, inquiring about any firearm ordinances prohibiting firearm carry within the city (Delaware lacks preemption, thus cities can enact their own ordinances as they see fit). I was informed that open carry is indeed legal in the city limits of Rehoboth Beach, however...

Preemption is actually an inappropriate term for Bush's policy which was actually Preventive war. Preemption is generally accepted as countering an imminent threat. Preventive war aims to prevent the threat from emerging at all. There was no imminent threat from Iraq. The first is accepted as legal under international law.... the latter is not since it basically justifies any war. It is...
