I love Linux. I find Linux machines (I've primarily run Arch) far easier to maintain than Windows machines. When I finally put Linux on a laptop with a working battery, I was a bit disappointed. I have an Eee 1000, and while I get around 5 hours with Windows 7, I get only 3.5 with Arch with the brightness all the way down. Are there any straightforward tweaks I can make that could improve my ...

The power management on 2010 has taken a big step backwards from 2009.1 as far as I can make out. I have both a Dell 1710 and an HP mini, both of which suspended quite happily under 2009.1, both of which have become pretty hit and miss under 2010. Have there been any significant changes between the two releases in regards to this? ta Peter.

If I set power management in Win7 to high speed then my CPU uses all the time OC that I have set to 4.0ghz but if I set it to balanced then it OC the cpu and ups the voltage only as needed by changing the clock cycles. I want it to use balanced setting as that means it only OC when I need it so keeps things running cool most of the time. Thing is that it also down clocks it to 9 cycles when ...

Today for some reason our NS just started crawling and all the screens are timing out before they finish to load. I looked at the event logs and it is full of errors complaining about "Power Management". Does anyone know what could be causing this and how I can fix it? Thanks! Sid

Hi Gnome's power management doesn't seem to detect when I unplug my laptop from the AC net. Upon unplugging and plugging the power cord, dmesg shows entries like : atkbd.c: Use 'setkeycodes e071 ' to make it known. atkbd.c: Unknown key released (translated set 2, code 0xf1 on isa0060/serio0). atkbd.c: Use 'setkeycodes e071 ' to make it known. atkbd.c: Unknown key pressed (...

No luck...I even tried using Lizard. Maybe I have to turn HPET to 32-bit in bios to boot into 32-bit mode? I did use demong1's MacPro4_1.plist right off the get go. Interesting thought though. Unfortunately, I trashed the original unmodified kext after demong1's plist worked (something I rarely do, but it was late...). I would like to give it a try.
