I'm going to be building a core i7 system soon and I'd like to buy a decent motherboard with low power consumption. The motherboard doesn't have to have lots of bells & whistles, and I won't be doing much (if any) overclocking, so all I'm interested in is an energy efficient motherboard that is well built. I'm particularly interested in idle power consumption, though it would be good to ...

I remember getting like over 3000 fps when I started the Witcher up. (Don't worry I'm not playing that game anymore) Anyway the card was screaming until it got into the menu. Then the loud noise was gone and it dropped from it's over 3000 fps to 800 - 900 fps. So can limiting the fps to something lower than what your card can actually do save on power? If so, how much in terms of how ...

Hi, I have a question regarding the new Ion2 GPU platform . Does this differs in power consumption as compare to other processors. If yes then post some relevant explanation on the same. Also I need some features and technical spec about the GPU type. Here the GPU is more finely engraved (40nm cons 55nm) but the number of shaders is doubled (32 against 16). What I had noticed that if ...

I wonder if "the" is required before "power," i.e., "...in the power consumption," in the following sentence. "This machine incorporates energy-saving parts that ensure a great reduction in power consumption." The energy-saving parts reduces the power consumption of this machine. When I think of this, I feel that "the" is required but I am not confident. I would like to have ...

Is there a link or document where we can find info regarding power consumption for various optiplex machines (620 740, 745)?  Specifically we would like to know what the active and standby power draw is for these systems.  I realize hardware configs can drastically alter these, but i'd like to get an average so we can attempt to quantify our power mgmt efforts. Thanks Warren

^ I think that PSU should be ok. 52A on a single rail should be able to feed it. As long as the rest of your system isn't crazy power hungry with tons of drives. You can use the molex to pci-e adapters. I would split the 6 pins and use one on each and then an adapter on each. It might be a good ideal to use molex connectors that are on a separate segment than your other devices as well. Just in ...

If you planning to get a ION2 based GPU then I will recommend you to get a 600W Power Supply for safe and stable power to your computer. The gpu consumes power and it is necessary for the stability. In my opinions that it should work better, ION2 will be further enhanced in the performance of the GPU. Ion2 built on latest technology offers you a much better platform for 3D applications and ...

I would tend to avoid the phrase ensure a great reduction . If you want to emphasize the change , use a verb that means change. Also, energy-saving is just redundant, when you are talking about saving energy. I would talk about the new design or new parts. I would say "This machine incorporates parts/a new design that reduces power consumption XX%". This is more direct, and it allows you to...
