So as to save poor old Liz the trouble of doing the research, can any bright bod out there fill me in on what to go for if I want to be as green as poss (i.e. kind to my power bill) when getting a new TV? Are there any significant differences between types/models etc? Currently I have a late model CRT box and can't seem to find a fix for its increasing tendency to want to colour the ...

If you had to assign a percentage (0-100) on how much power the following functions uses, what would you set? We can assume we are using an average android 1.6 device. Please include a motivation as well. * Flight mode (i.e. all other features turned off) * GPS * WiFi * Mobile network (2g) * Mobile network (3g) * Bluetooth For me, I would probably set something like Flight ...

I'm eyeing an i7 27", and I'm trying to find out what the idle power consumption is. Apple only lists the maximum draw, which is 365 watts. Does anyone with an i7 (or i5, for that matter) have a Kill-A-Watt type device that they could measure the idle power draw with? Thanks!

I've upgraded maps in my E75 (fimware 100.48.78) to ovi maps 3 (the latest available throug the upgrader), and my phone's power consumption have increased. It is barely able to have one day runtime, with no software (including maps) running. uninstalling map (BTW is there any way to downgrade to 2.0, without doing a full reset?) returns to several days of run time. I have tried it a ...

im considering building a small renderfarm using the gigabyte 4ghz i7 bundles, since their bang for the buck beats out anything else ive found. I was initially looking at 2u rackmount servers that feature 4 dual xeon motherboards, for a total of 8 quad core nehalems with 48 gb of ram between them. This beast costs approximately £8k with the 2.8ghz xeons. (64 threads for rendering...

Hi, I'm considering to buy a new iMac (21,5"/nvidia or ati) and I'm wondering if someone has already measured the actual power consumption. In it's environmental paper, Apple documents that it uses less than 2W in sleep mode and 37,5 W with the display off. Did anyone try if this is also measured in real life? I may sound a bit paranoid, but half a year ago I bought a mac mini ...

Hi Guys, I'm driving my wifes car at the moment and find there's not very much power (2.9ltr 6cyl) engine and the fuel consumption is around 15lts/100km in stop start traffic over a 15km trip. I put the car into a service shop and he confirmed there were no fualts and all sensors are doing as they should. The car has high octane fuel always. I don't drive this car often so maybe this is how it is...
nice psu. i can only think of a motherboard bios issue. i have a boards with this issue, not with a wacom tablet but a a dell monitor built-in card reader. annoys the monkeys out of me. may be u could try placing a usb hub between the wacom and pc. use that hub only for the wacom.

I'm still working on the director's commentary. The composer's commentary is complete. "I felt that a 1kHz tone would best define the emotional intent of the story..." ;) Honestly, I should produce a trailer. :)

I think, FPS for FPS, the NVidia will require more amps. This is based off recent history and the new NV cards aren't designed specifically for graphical purposes, so they likely won't be as optimized for graphics.

If its gone red then you have lost the green signal. check Green line to tube, tend to go dry joint. If you don't know what you are doing please do not attempt a repair. I would just get the best TV you can. If you watch TV then just pay the leccy charge or turn it off...or throw it away. Or plant a tree if it makes you feel better. Sorry don't do green, but you can do it for me. x

"Today, we expect our phones to realize more and more functions, and we also expect their batteries to last," said Lide Zhang, a doctoral student in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and one of the application's developers. "PowerTutor will help make that possible." PowerTutor will enable software developers to build more efficient products, said Birjodh ...

one option re. the gpus would be to stagger the motherboards horizontally, so the gpu on the bottom board sits beside the motherboard above.. id then have to find a mobo with the pcie16 slots near the left edge, rather than in the middle as is normal. obviously if i decided to go this route id probably have to forget about the multiple boards on one psu option (unless i can get a ...
