We design exercise equipment, some using DC drives and some using AC drives. They are in-house designs. The AC drive is a simple V/F type and exhibits poor PF (0.7 or less) owing to its front-end being a simple bridge rectifier and capacitor design. The supply is 240V 60Hz single-phase. The output is 3-phase 230VAC 10 to 120Hz. The motor is 2hp. To improve the PF we can add a series inductance ...

We have checked the voltage meters used to sync and they are good as are the PT's used to read the voltage. We just installed a new excitation system. The generator terminal voltage is controlling to the proper set point and the dc is balanced perfectly. Here is the problem...when we tie on the MVARS are running ~60-80 MVARS at almost no load (5-10 MW). Usually we run 0-10 MVARS at 0-10 MW. The...

W231 Is my go-to powder for a few reasons. I like it; I shoot primarily 9mm in USPSA production division, and use 124 grain cast round nose from Missouri Bullet Co. There is little smoke, and no leading to speak of with either my LWD barrel or my factory polygonally rifled barrel. I notice that many folks who use W231 and 125 grain cast bullets claim that you will make power factor at 4.1 ...

In article , John Rumm writes: Since my answer to a question on PF a while ago seemed well received, I thought I may as well hack it about a bit for a wiki article. Comments, edits etc as you see fit: http://wiki.diyfaq.org.uk/index.php?title=Power_fa ctor John, it's discussing power factor only in the context of phase shift (which was the context of the original ...

1. The problem statement, all variables and given/known data The power factor of a circuit has to be improved from 0,6 to 0,9 by adding capacitors. Originally, it only has an inductor L, a resistence R and a generator V. The circuit requires an active power of 3000 VA, and that should remain the same. V ef = 220V. 3. The attempt at a solution ...

Quote: You being one of those sciency guys, I'm sure you can figure when Excel function that is!! Yeah, but I try to keep work at work. Seriously, though you're right on the money. The only reason I haven't reduced my load is for fear of a round randomly falling below power factor. Once I can reach that 10% SD mark you mentioned, I'll pretty ...
