just saw this and i'm surprised how underrated it is. Nicholas Cage gave a really entertaining performance, definetly his best and my favorite from herzog who i haven't been impressed with until now. My 2nd favorite of the year next to District 9. What do you think of it?

The Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans I saw this movie and I was really disappointed. People who saw the film said it was dark and crazy, but while watching the film I never got that impression. Nick Cage disappointed me in the film. I expected more and wasted roughly 2 hr of sleep watching this film. I want to know if ...

It's not a great film, and it was unlikely that it would ever turn out that way. It is a very, very good one, however, and extremely funny and clever, evocative, well-shot, and atmospheric with wonderful use of the New Orleans locales. Cage's performance is likely the best of his career- absolutely mad, unhinged, spectacular, ridiculous, and there is a broad range he covers. He's scary, goofy, ...

I don't know why so many people hate on Nicholas Cage. Some of his acting is pretty good. I really liked him in the movie Lord of war. And in Rumble fish

One of the films of the year for me. So many hilarious scenes that keep on playing back in your mind. True, it's a little bit messy but that doesn't really bother me as there's so many classic moments in it.

When Cage can reel it in, he can be effective in roles such as this, but that subdued, downtrodden everyman he likes to play can also rip the guts right out of a role. I think that's what happened in the Weatherman. He doesn't ruin the role, but I don't think he does it any favors, either. It was bland. The only light comes from his epiphany, and that is only because he had spent the previous...

Nah. Harvey is a drama actor, and his deliverance in Ferraro's film is pretty much unforgettable. I'd consider it Brando level. Cage on the other hand is good at giving bizarre characters with a comedic touch. As such, he works very well in this movie. As already has been said, those both films don't compare. They're entirely different genres.

the weird iguana crap, and close up of the alligator actually took me out of the movie and made me say oh yea its a Herzog film. I think there is actually more to this film than meets the eye though, with Herzog hes always got something up his sleave and I felt this all played out a bit too straight forward to take completely at face value. I guess I liked this movie, I didn't dislike it. ...
