I know that Lobelia is poisonous to cats, but does anyone know if its the flower or the root? Shadow seems to really like to go after the small purple flowers on my sundeck, she hasnt eaten enough to make her sick I caught her in time. I thought most kitties will not eat plants they know are bad for them. Everytime though she wants to eat some I just have to keep her away from them. She is an...

All parts of this plant are poisonous. If you want your cat to go out on the deck, you need to remove the plant entirely. Maybe you should think of rehoming the plant to a place without cats.

UPDATED Sun Aug 3 2008 13:41:19 In our yard we have: Hydrangea - the flower bulbs contain cyanide Azaleas - all parts of the plant are poisonous as they contain an andromedotoxin Calla Lillies - entire plant is poisonous as it contains calcium oxalate crystals which are essentially bundles of tiny needles, and when you chew the plant these crystals are released ...

First time I came across poisonwood, I was walking on some land in Sarteneja with Teva sandals. I started feeling a burning somewhat like fire ants, but I never saw any. The burning got worse, and I'd worried that somehow I'd been bitten by something. My guide found the next poison wood tree, and right near it was the antidote, crushed up leaves, I rubbed them on my feet and the problem went ...

People believe in crazy things when they don't have anything better to serve as a replacement. Part of this is due to the way science is taught K-12. They teach what we know but not so much how we know what we know. Without understanding the epistimology behind science, the student is simply left with two competing stories. They will simply choose whatever seems comfortable. I agree that it's ...

I am colaborating my own puppy packets and want to find some really good articles that would be helpful to new puppy owners. I would like to find a nice (productive) house training article, perhaps puppy development, health issues, importance of proper vet care. Maybe a list of poisonous plants and household items. There are all kinds of articles out there but I am looking for good ones if ...

First, I should say that I am not one of those who are paranoid about the poisonous/hallucenogenic properties of our favorite plants! However, I was curious about all the honeybees that are visiting my Cherub and Ecuador White. Will their honey somehow be affected by this?

This is a new poison system I've been cobbling together. It's inspired by a couple things: first, I wanted to have diseases and poisons use the same ruleset; second, I've always thought that basing a poison's strength on the creature's Con score was ridiculous (some of the most venomous creatures on earth are also some of the smallest, like the golden dart frog); third, I wanted to have some ...

Watched this movie last night and was kinda mixed on how I felt about it, but when I woke up this morning I realized the whole point was that it was supposed to seem impossible. The movie is a reflection of what's really going on with the world and human society today- it's obviously about things like global warming and the state of denial half the people around are in. Shyamalan may have pissed ...
