Anyone know the latest on buses trains from Poipet to Sien Reap or Battambang? We have heard there are no more trains??? In the Rough Guide and Lonely Planet one says one bus only leaves before 8a.m and the other says 4 buses a day.

Poipet crossing Hi, just for some feedback... I took the afternoon train from Bangkok to Aranyaprathet. At the train station, there were some tuktuk drivers, eager to take us to the border. We agreed for 30B DIRECT to the border. Nevertheless, the driver missed...

E-Visa into Poipet (Any problems?) Just got my E-VISA to enter Cambodia via Poipet. Has anyone had problems with the E-VISA? I"m just wondering if the immigration officers may try to scam you somehow with these visas.

take the train from Hualampong Bangkok - Aranyaprathet at around 05:30am (50 baht). Will arrive around 12:00pm. moto from Aranyaprathet - border (40 baht) will take around 10 minutes. Border will take between 30 minutes to 1 hour. Once in Poipet, walk past the scam busses, past a few small cafes, and negotiate for a seat in a car ($5 - $15). Between 2 and 2 1/2 hours to Siem Reap. If ...

No need to go to Poipet. Also no need to cross at O'Smach. A bit further east is the border crossing at Anlong Veng. No idea what the town on the Thai side is called, check a map. 118km from Siem Reap on an excellent road with regular bus transport and share taxis if needed.

One quick little note. Do not take the free bus from the poipet border to the (scam) taxi office or the (scam) bus station. You should have spent a little longer negotiating that taxi from poipet to sr. That price is outrageous! for #1 Buses from bb - pp can take 5-7 hours depending on company and departure time. Share taxi's can be better but it is a gamble as you have to consider the ...

I took the train from Bangkok to Aranya Pathet last year. It is cheap and very easy to do. There was not much hassle at Poipet as long as you do your homework and know how to say no. We got our Cambodian visa from their website before leaving the US, so crossing the border was a piece of cake. We also negotiated a really good price for the taxi, sharing the ride with others for $10 pp. The ...

seconding Mandaly, the room was clean, and cheap. The staff were friendly and able to get my friend and me cheaper cab ride back to Poipet than was offered by our first driver. But if you're counting on a Tuk Tuk driver to get you there, don't believe him if he says the place is closed or something. Our driver tried that with us, but after i assured him we had reservations and told him we had...

I just did a similar trip, minus Laos. Bangkok-Siem Reap-Phnom Penh-Saigon-Hanoi-Halong Bay. Many people spoke very highly of Laos, and I'm kind of sorry I didn't make it. All travel was done by rail or bus. seat61.com is a great resource for overland travel info and if you wish you can read my trip blog at goyestoeverything.com good luck and beware the Poipet border scam!
