XPS 420, installed a Plextor DVD drive that will read, boot etc. ONLY from Dell disks? I've loaded updated drivers/firmware for the DVD from a memory stick just fine. I still cannot get the ROM to read or autostart on the other install disks I have for wireless card and sound card. Just no response. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks, John

My Windows XP pro CPU has lost my DVD and CD player/burners. Someone thought Adobe products caused a mis-registry error (either written in or taken out) and I hope someone can help. Plextor and Toshiba - the other device SD1612--is even more thouroughly lost and Microsoft,Toshiba, and everyone elso seems to be at a loss. Any help out there?

I have a problem writing CD's in EAC with my Plextor Premium when creating copies of CD's to play in my car. The ripping part is no problem (I rip the complete CD to a single wav with cue sheet). The wav ends correctly. But when I burn the CD with EAC (at 4 x speed), the result is a CD where the last track is corrupt at the end. The CD player in my car (and also of my stereo) starts "flipping" at...

Which is the best Plextor CD/DVD writer (internal). By best I mean produces the best quality writes / fewest errors on Taiyo Yuden stock. Speed is not particularly important as I generally write at 8x or even 4x for best results. I am a bit out of touch, I thought Plextor had gone out of business about 2 years ago?? Once I get a model number I will search for a supplier in the UK, but ...

not long ago I replaced my dead lightscribe DVD writer with a new Plextor model, PX870A. I discovered, much to my dismay that my few remaining HP Lightscribe discs could not be recognized by the new drive, but a new batch of Verbatim dvd's worked just fine. I asked Plextor about this. they sent me two blank HP dvd's which both worked fine I attributed the failure as perhaps old stock. ...

I want to add a specific optical drive to my Mac Pro. It's an early Mac Pro 2.0 quad core intel, the first generation I believe. The optical drive is a Plextor Premium 2 which has an IDE connection. I've heard mixed info about weather the first Mac Pro's were IDE or something else as far as the optical drives go. Does anybody have any solid info for me? I know I could mount it in ...

As long as you're working with the Dell motherboard, there shouldn't be any problems. And no, you're not whacked! All of the drivers can be found in downloads. Click the support button at the top of any forum page to get to downloads. It's possible that once all the drivers are installed, the drive will read just fine. There's also a possibility the Plextor is just not playing well with ...
