I arrived at an addition trim job this morning that I've been working at, on and off for much of this year, to see the homeowner had started some of the plaster repairs in the main house. He reamed out the cracks in the plaster (some quite large in length and width), filled them with PL200, applied mesh tape, smoothed it all out, and now he's waiting for the drywaller to come float his "repairs"...

Went to Plaster City for the weekend, Friday night and most of Saturday it was VERY windy and much dust blowing! :-( Late Saturday and Sunday weather improved and was nice! Above is me on my new 1977 CT90! Bad mofo eh? The above is my son Chris and his 4 year old daughter Meirah! He normally rides a Honda XR650; poor guy... LOL Glenn

After the recent high winds and rain I have been left with a nasty dropdown. The experts tell me that the problem is cause by the force of the wind driving the rain through the external plaster and the outer block into the cavity. The wall is painted but I am being advised to paint it with a waterproofer. Anybody out there know of a good waterproofer for a painted wall. Preferably something ...

Hi - am putting a multifuel stove into an old fireplace. If I put a plaster mantlepiece around it - can this be considered (for safety reasons) as fireproof? My options are wood, plaster, metal or stone - I want to appreciate the pros and cons of each. Cheers, thanks in advance. NB - I know about J Regs etc. UPDATE - reading through Regulation J, exactly how far must a mantlepiece (...

Hello, I have a situation with a couple of brick masonry walls joining up to a concrete column(as shown). All the walls (and the column) have 1/2" plaster on the interior/exterior side. How can the the plaster line of the column and the brick be joined/made seamless so that one can avoid the groove that is visible in the elevation. Have tried disallow join/join geometry etc...please help!...

So, apparently we needed tiny Christmas tree decorations. Wal-mart's stock was not sufficient, so off to the Hobby Lobby. How do these people make money? Half the stuff there is glass or porcelain or plaster, and customers drop it all over the place. There's literally a pile of legs, noses, antlers and shattered glass underneath the ornament displays. Two girls dropped a snowman or something ...

My 6 month old PBGV has suddenly taken a liking to walls. He has eaten through to the plaster (licking up the paint scraps that fall) in one room and I just caught him gnawing on a new area. I don't live in an old building, so I'm not worried about lead poisoning but this can't be good for him. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue with their dog or can...

I am a plaster restoration contractor in Greensboro, N.C. After more than 25 years of plaster restoration, I have concluded that there is a common defect that can indicate a real safety issue involving certain plaster ceiling systems.
