Yes, I am blaming my love of pit bulls for what I just did this evening. I contacted the volunteer coordinator at one of the local animal control facilities, and I filled out an application. Saturday, the 14th, I have my first orientation class. I'll be walking the dogs, cleaning their kennels, and introducing them to potential adopters. I have two classes to take, and a "buddy day," where I'll ...

Hello everybody! For those of you who don't already know, I'm the volunteer coordinator for The Sula Foundation here in New Orleans. We are a non-profit organization founded by author Ken Foster dedicated to fostering responsible pit bull ownership through low-cost veterinary clinics, education and advocacy. We have also gotten into a small scale rescue operation as well. We are a fairly young...

The longer this story goes on the more interesting and involved it becomes. I'd LOVE to hear how his wife and mother will defend Mr. Robinson now that his previous trouble with the law (owning vicious pit bulls) has come to light. I'm sure Mr. and Mrs. Robinson think his bail reduction is "fair", but I wonder how fair his victim thinks it is, especially when you consider that she's still ...

I do think it is a significant problem, just don't neccesarily think the number is that high and that there are no doubt some crosses and mixes within as it is more about a "look" that actually knowing parentage.... my comment on the BSL was that given that few other breeds face this, it is bound to have an impact.... I DO think there is a problem, I just don't agree that no one is doing anything...

Sneaky, thanks. I'm going to need all the luck I can get. I tear up watching those sad animal shows on tv. I could probably hold off until I go back to my truck to head home, but I'm sure I'll shed at least a few tears. Fbod, thanks for telling me how to do multiple quotes. I'll have to write that down, and keep it nearby. It makes sense. I think I understand what you're saying. Also, thank you!...
