An incident this week just a couple of blocks from my home has made me wonder how communities can bring about this ban. A man was out walking his very gentle lab, when two pit bulls who had gotten out of their shabby fence, attacked and killed his dog while he could do nothing. Animal control would not pick up the pits, as the owners are pit rescuers. The dogs have broken out of the fence several...

If only I would know my dog would steal MY boyfriend. My boyfriend, who mind you is a cat person and not fond of dogs....calls daily and asks "how's my boy doing?" "wheres my boy at?" "Tell my boy I said HI"... "I'm going to have to come down and see my boy, I miss him". "I haven't seen my boy in a while".... What about ME? Darn Pit bulls stealing boyfriends! Not only that but he's now saying ...

Responding to a complaint about loose dogs in the hood, an animal control officer is attacked and sent to the hospital. No doubt, the poor misunderstood pit bulls were just really, really loving little animals to their masters. Get rid of them. Outlaw pit bulls period.

Eyewitness News has learned that it is the third time since 2005 that officers have responded to the home for reports about the dogs. The dogs' owner, Kevin Frink, contends it was the first time his dogs have ever bitten someone. Frink believes the officers did not have to gun down his dogs. "They became the judge, the jury and prosecutor at that moment," Frink said. ...

Pit Bulls (& etc.)...what is wrong with people? I did a Petfinder search for "terrier" with no real hope of finding a suitably adoptable dog. Just window shopping, as it were. I got more than 20 pages of hits, within a 50 mile (give or take) radius, and all but a handful were PBs, Staffies, or other Bullies and Bully Xs. There were a ton of really beautiful dogs in that group.` ...

Actually, I'd say probably 9 times out of 10, the incident could have been avoided with a little forethought. But, maxter... you left some details out of your stories. An accurate summation cannot be made without those details. If I were at someone's BBQ, and they had a big dog staring at me while I was eating, I'd go somewhere else to eat where the dog couldn't bother me... or, I'd ask...

sueb wrote: Pit bulls ARE evil, aren't they? Mine is constantly stealing my pillow, my spot in bed, and most of the blankets. my last boy would lean against the bed, then lay down effectively pulling the covers off of the bed. He'd pull a little at a time until they were all on the floor.

Carla I actually never thought about it this this way but it is definitely insightful. I suppose someone like that would use a "rejected" dog as a means to retalitate against a society that has disowned / rejected ...
