Hi ,i would like to update my bios with the recommended bios which i have downloaded from dell.com but i don't know how to back up the old one on my dell latitude d600 which i am currently using in case if something goes wrong ! please can anyone suggest how i can go about this ?

Understand your reasoning, occured to me also in the past. However, assuming it's possible with one of the many switches of the BIOS update program DELL distributes the questions is: How to validate a ROM downloaded BIOS?
