Hi Every year I plant petunias in early November. The plants do really well except I lose about 10% due to bugs eating on the roots of the plants. I'm not sure if the bugs are grubs or what. Do you have any suggestions. Is it alright to place some bug killing granules below, next to, or around the plan? You have to love these simple plants. This must have been a perfect growing season for them. They never got too leggy, no dead stems to remove, just constant blooms. I particularly like these called Ky. Mix with variegated blooms. From Fall 2009

Not many, but the tomato plants are still out there, and they're still, very, very slowly, ripening. Lettuce still thriving, and the fuscia that I cut back seems to have decided that it's time to rouse itself and put some more growth on. Like I said, it's a bit odd.
