Is it as easy as emigrating to Canada? Or do you need to shell out over 10K? (You can get a Canadian Green card for $5K, but if you have skills they want the price drops very quickly)

I am currently filing my 1-495 and am also an F-1 commuting student. Can I file the status adjustment? How long does this process take? I am wondering what to expect time wise for when I will be able to work. Answer Hi, Although F1 status does not allow for intention to immigrate, I-485 can be filed without any problem. However, you should not travel outside the U.S. while I-485 (also ...

On the PR application they are asking for information and photos of family members. Is that just for spouses and children (which I do not have), or do they also want parents and siblings?

I am planning to land in Canada sometimes in January and leave after five days to sort things out back at home. When I get there do I have to fill in another form to apply for Resident Card or is it going to be posted automatically to the address that I give at the airport after landing? Thanks.

Hello All, I would like if the fellow members on this forum (especially those who have already landed in Canada as PR ) could share their experiences/questions that were posed to them by the immigration officers at the airport on their arrival in Canada. Also, I am not sure about this one and would like to know if one needs to declare the immigration officer about their return date/flight...

Can a Non-U.S. citizen/permanent resident work in the U.S. provided he completed his education in a foreign med school? How probable is it? Is it very common? How much do you pay for that and do you have to be an excellent student? What are the procedures for getting residency and post-doc fellowships? It would be appreciated if answers are detailed. Thanks a lot!

"November 1: All international visa holders and U.S. citizens and permanent residents WITH NON-U.S. ACADEMIC RECORDS must submit the application by this date." Now... I'm a U.S. PR , but I've done most of my schooling (well since 2000) internationally. Does this mean that I've completely missed the deadline? Thanks!

Heres my story. I am a Canadian citizen. I was born in Canada. I came to the US as a tourist in 1985. I have lived here in the US since that time. I have never left the US at all. In 1990, I obtained a Social Security Number. It is real and it is valid for work. Afterward, I also obtained a real state Drivers License. From 1985 to 1990, I worked various off-the-...

I lost my permanent resident card a while back without realising it, and it also must have expired in 2007. Without checking into it thoroughly I sent an application for a renewal of my lost card which has now been denied as it wasnt done within the 90 days required from expiration. I recieved a letter saying my status was automatically terminated and I can file for a motion to reopen on form I...

Well, that includes some US Citizens at medical schools overseas. It's certainly not THAT many -- it's about half the number of undergraduate spots at Ivy League universities, for example. I have no idea how the application process to any particular hospital works. As a general rule, you should go to school (1) in the US if you can, (2) in your home country otherwise.

To re-enter Canada after you have landed you will need your LI Card to get on the plane. Mine took about 5 weeks to arrive and I only received it the day before I was due to return to the UK. There are options like going to the High Commission in London and filling out another form but my lawyer advised I not mention to the airline that I was emigrating. Depends who is checking the passports at ...

hey kedar as for the second question, i dont think that the fact of you being here for two weeks only for now matters much to them. If iam not mistaken though you must reside in Canada at least 6 months plus a day every year to maintain your PR status, at least thats how it was when i landed here in the 90's[. Also your prolonged absence here may affect your health coverage(OHIP) Good luck...
